Re: Ableton Live or Adobe Audition?

I used to use audition back in my PC days - it does have a solid development history - because it is syntrillium's Cool Edit Pro just with Adobe's name on it (since syntrillium sold). That is a tough choice though - both programs have different pro's and con's - the good news is that you can get Liv...

Re: Frank Black's live to 2-Track beauties

When I first heard that Dog in the Sand was done live to 2 track I saturated myself... I love that album, not just because of the music - but because it has such a great vibe to it (and sound). Someone needs to do an interview with Frank.

Maybe you can put a new display into it - the data bus is basically standardized, and you can probably deduce which are the backlight leads with a cheap multimeter. Or, have a tech do this for you... - T

Yup - right under where it says your clock speed and sample rate there is a "Hardware" button - you can easily change your hardware config that way.

Re: Music Theory?

I would recommend it - the basics of music theory and audio production are similar in my opinion. Take the harmonic series for example - the overtones heard in one note - harmonics - they all relate well to, lets say, the sliders on a graphic EQ, and the delightful overtones you hear coming out of a...

Re: Modulation pedal mod

You can use a DPDT switch to achieve true bypass. Here is a useful link:

Re: What Did You Work On Today? 5-5-04

with a service manual, a screwdriver, and a strobe tuner you can calibrate the temperment and scale real easy (I usually "evaluate" a tuner from the local music store to get the job done on my Pro-1, and then bring it back an hour later) Not that that has anything to do with the point of this thread...

Re: Modulation pedal mod

I have done similar stuff with old wah pedals - I use them as expression/hold pedals for my synths - does anybody know where to get good empty expression pedal cases? I first started using the old Wahs to control a moogerfooger - man those MP-1 expression pedals are junk. Mine died at a very very ba...

Re: Anyone here use Cubasis?

This came bundled with the tascam USB interface I bought - unfortunately, you get what you pay for - in this case, nothing. I was so frustrated and stunned when I found out that you could not even use VST instruments with it, even though it said you could. There was a crack, but I was not into that....

Re: laptops overheating

A good way to keep these laptops cool is to stick like a pen or something about that size under the bottom (when it is on a flat surface) this lets some air flow underneath, and prevents you from spending money a special mount that does the same thing. I use an old boombox antenna - Tim

I have seen my drummer use rope to tie the kick and hat to the stool legs - it was ridiculous looking, but his ass kept everything anchored well.

Re: So I think i blew up my amp...

a low frequency hum, if that is what you are refering to, may be the filter caps on the AC line - although they usually wear out gradually. Some companies use poweramplifier chips that do this kind of thing right before they short out, it may be that, or trannys in your preamp creating this noise (o...
