Check out Tom Holman's book.

And be prepared for frustration, there are standards for cinema release but the DVD/Blu-ray/??? home theater world is a cluster-fuck of nonsense.

What kind of surround do you want to mix? 5.1? 7.1? something weird?

Thanks guys! You have re-assured me that I was right to never buy any of your shit. I'll make sure that trend continues for me and any of the clients/vendors/venues that I work for.

P.S. - You're a jerk.

Many cheap live boards have global phantom across all channels. Plug a stomp box into the snake via a 1/4"-XLR cable and you've got problems. Use a DI and all is well.

OK, we've been down this road a few times so I'm going to use my clairvoyance to tell you how this thread is going to go ahead of time: Experienced live sound engineers will warn you to be very careful about using effects live. Dudes who think the universe is unfair if they aren't allowed to have st...

Honestly.... Just double mic. Live / Recording are different worlds, they need to be separate IMHO.

It might be a bit crowded on-stage but it's worth the hassle to be able to make mic placement decisions based on tone rather than preventing feedback.

I would avoid using those 10k pots. Why not just make a 3-way switch with fixed resistor values? It will take some time to match the resistors I guess... I would only ever want -6, -12, and -18 myself.

FS: Oktava ML-52 Partial MOD - NOW $250 - Wheee!

I know I'm going to regret this but it must be done. Too many ribbons and not enough sessions to justify their existence. Oktava ML-52-02 dual ribbon with physical/mechanical mods: Multiple grill layers removed Wind blast goal post dealies removed from ribbon assembly. Ringing/resonant bars removed ...

The pinout is different.... it's essentially a turnaround cable. You can make your own with ribbon cable if you keep the runs VERY short.

Good luck, TDIF kinda sucks and it will only get harder to find the cables
