Re: Favorite NAS for audio

I'm giving Plex a whirl on my Ubuntu install. I've already got ubuntu set up as a file server and web server. So far plex is an endless "progress" circle animation, but if it is cataloging all the media on the server it is on, it has its work cut out for it. Thanks for mentioning it.

Re: Favorite NAS for audio

I just upgraded my linux server and it still doesn't do everything I want as easily as I want. I will probably still use Linux as a LAMP server. I know Linux could do all the things, but my last one ran trouble free for maybe 10 years and I've forgotten all my linux. I don't want to configure a bunc...

Re: anyone working at 96k?

I've been running my Alesis HD24XR in 96k, 12 channel mode since I got it. Never even tried 48. Which is what I used to use over 44k before I bumped up to 96. I swear I could hear a difference. It feels to me like converters that can do 96 do that natively and have to do math to do 44, but I've neve...

Favorite NAS for audio

Hi,

I guess the subject says it all. I'm wondering from both a music production and music consumption standpoint. Where should I store my wavs and my mp3's.

Thanks,

ck

I have 2 would be willing to sell one. They both work, afaik, I can test first. One is on reverb now.
I think I just bought your BRC on Reverb. Thanks for pointing me to it.

Re: Please recommend some small but mighty speakers

I wound up putting on my mask and going into Guitar Center and listening to their switcher thing with all the nearfields on it. It wasn't a great selection, maybe 12 different pairs, and they had speakers for sale that weren't on it, but it gave me a sampling of what was out there, minus any of the ...

Please recommend some small but mighty speakers

Hi Folks, My daughter needs speakers smaller than my KRK V8's that I'm loaning her. I'm wondering if anyone knows of some small speakers (5-6" woofers?) that might give the KRK V8's a run for their money sound-wise. These would be mostly used for keyboard practice and listening back to rough recordi...

Anyone have one? I'm in Portland, OR and would love to avoid shipping costs, but open to whatever.

Can you recommend a tiny USB mixer?

Hi, I'm googling, but not finding the perfect thing. All I need is one line level stereo channel and one mic preamp, with stereo line outs and a USB output that can be used simultaneously. It's for someone who is singing while playing a keyboard who wants to record themself. Anyone know of a tiny, g...

Re: $999 pop filter

Only worth it if it doesn't slip or droop. That clamp mechanism doesn't inspire confidence.

Re: I’m about to record some drums, help me not screw it up

I would just add, be careful not to place any mics equidistant between floor and ceiling or between walls. I've found it really hard to get a good sound there.

Re: CASSETTE TAPE LIFESPAN

I've been converting old tapes recently too and I'm surprised by how well they've generally held up. No sticky shed issues so far and these have been horribly stored for decades, mostly in the basement. Some sound like complete ass, but I'm thinking they always sounded that way. (Type I cassettes fo...

Re: My Massive Preamp Comparison

I only listened to this briefly, through my phone speaker, so I wasn't going to comment. But I gotta say, the thought that ran through my head was "I'm good with my Allen & Heath." Pre's always struck me as coming after mics and compressors on the shopping list and I don't have any great mics or com...
