How does one open a Senn 421

I have one with a really bad buzz to it. It goes away when I touch the grill so I'm thinking that it is a grounding issue. Does anyone know how to get it open. It also has the other kind of three prrong plug. I thought that the buzz might be coming from the adapter but I tried another adapter and it...

Cool. Thanks again. I just got the Fostex 4050 autolocator and it has a built in generator. I'm excited to give it a try.

Well hot damn! Thanks a ton Mark. Your explanation of this process just opened up a whole new world to me. I can't wait to get 15 tracks off of tape and go back for more if needed. Hello individual tom mics! OK, time for a stupid question. Can SMPTE lock with SMPTE at any point in the sequence? I gu...

Thanks! That was a great article. I remember reading that before but not understanding most of it. It makes much more sense now. These new chips read like they could really improve the detail of our soundcraft pre's. Thanks for posting this. I would be into going in on your bulk order if you need gr...

Hey Robo I'd be interested to know how the chip swap works out for you. I own the TS-12 and have been considering an upgrade for some time. I wonder if the current draw is low enough on the new chips that you could put a few really nice chips in a select group of channels without a significant drain...

I found a upright piano in the streets and I yanked out the strings still attached to the back of the piano. It stands upright in the tracking room and I just mic it when I need it and put a moving blanket over it when I don't need it.

I like the depth it adds to a full band recording.

Fletcher Would you mind posting the values of those resistors once you find them? That would be really cool! Also, thanks for the advice on the AEA R84DJ vs. AEA R84. I just submitted a purchase order for R84DJ and the Great River pre. We'll see how long it takes corporate to place an order with mer...

Ok, just thought I'd update my own post in case anyone else tries this. I decided to go with new JJ/Tesla 12AX7's from www.eurotubes.com. Bob was very helpful--replied quickly and shipped quickly. Just thought I'd take a moment to give praise to Bob and his tubes. Bob is a sick genius. This guy kno...

Where do I get free manuals?

Boy am I cheap! I just spent a bunch of money on a replacement tape machine and now I can't afford to buy a manual for the remote that came with it.

Does anyone know where I can find a free manual for the Fostex 4050 auto locator?

Thanks

Wow, Mike Deming of studio .45 designed these. He is one of my favorite producer/engineers. I love his work with the Lily's and the Pernice Brothers.

I'd love to hear these mics.

Hill Mixer?

Does anyone know of or worked with a Hill console. If so, what is it like?
I'm pretty sure they are British.

Cool, you've already done the work.

Let me know if you decide to mod the soundgrabber version. I'd love to hear what you think about it.
I haven't used those omni's for a long time. I need to revisit them.

Sorry diogo, I don't have a direct comparison for you with the 246. It's been a long time. Can you check it out in person? 95 bucks would be a great deal but if anything on the tape deck breaks, you are out of luck. If you did buy this and the tape machine broke, I'd be happy to send you any parts t...

they do to, I bought one less than a month ago at Radio Shack. That is great news, how much are they? Are they the thin square ones or the "soundgrabber" version? Hey Raymond- I used this one to balance the mic http://www.celestial.com.au/~rosswood/data/PZM%20Mod.htm I've never done the phantom pow...
