Re: Computer recording basics

I would just like to chime in and say that don't think you need the latest and greatest as far as interfaces are concerned. I just spent a little over $750 and got 32 analog inputs into my computer with 10 outputs. I bought a couple used MOTU interfaces... yes, they only do up to 24bit/48kHz recordi...

Re: Sony Vaio for ProTools

Just wipe the harddrive clean and re-install Windows first. Sony loads the Vaio's up with a ton of unneccesary crap that will only hiner and sort of audio production.

Re: stupid pc hardware question.

What chipset is the mobo using? If it's using a VIA chipset, do not waste your money.

I like this one:
It powers up fine and seems to work flawlessly but I must sell it as a "parts machine" because of what the photos reveal below.
The photos? Oh you mean that really dark one that you can't see jack shit in? Yeah, that reveals a lot...

Re: Hammond Organ Repair HELP!!! It's it pieces!

How are you, Scott? Yeah, Doug has hipped me to that problem before. Makes me glad I own a beautiful 1954 C2 along with my 1958 B3. If the B3 goes because of that problem, I'll have my C2! I guess I should take that rubber thingy out of my B3... but I use the B3 so much I almost never have time for ...

Re: Hammond Organ Repair HELP!!! It's it pieces!

You won't get to the key contacts by taking things apart... if you get that far, you'll probably never get the damn thing back together. Instead, look for a screw head on the back, I think near the upper end. Turning this will move the internal bus bars a bit and provide fresh contact surfaces. If ...

Re: Rotating mic??

well since the wires are going to get in the way, anyone know how the Leslie dose it? The drivers aren't moving, just the horn radiators. On the older Leslies, yes. The drivers fire into baffles and the baffles rotate. However Leslie did develop a rotating drum that had a 6x9 speaker mounted inside...

What about the fact that it slows down like a motherfucker?

Re: what were the old jazz sessions like?

Have you seen Ken Burns' 'Jazz?' Exhaustively good! Actually, it's very skewed and one-sided and doesn't even mention Jimmy Smith, a man who pioneered an entire instrument and sub-genre of music as well as revolutionizing modern keyboard playing. But I digress... logancircle, feel free to join my i...

Re: Studio Projects C3 - opinions?

I've used the C3 on tenor saxophone and on male vocals (a big, powerful baritone). I didn't care for it on sax, but it sounded fantastic on the vocals. Very full and BIG.

Re: Do you LOVE your rig?

What, no Hammond players out there? Didn't think so. I have two rigs... my live rig is a 1958 Hammond B3 with a Leslie 122 that has a newer JBL woofer in it and a (believe it or not) Peavey horn driver. The Peavey sucks in the studio but it rules live because it cuts through anything. My studio rig ...
