they look similar, keep in mind i dont have or never tried the 320b.
the 388 has 3 band sweepable eq section. the 320b does not. from pictures i have seen.

i have some drums recorded on the 388. i used the preamps on the a&h system 8. haven't recorded the cp 30 on the 388 yet.
i have been busy with djing and studio work.
i just work and it stairs at me. need to do that soon.

rumor has it, the system 8's EQ section is a neve design.

the mid sweep is great.

i would not recommend trying to adjust the tension. pain in the but. i messed mine up thinking i was cool. had to send it to tascam for repair. try the belt, fuse, and pinch roller before you mess with tension servos. the little adjusters are fragile and break easy. plus you need calibration tools. ...
