WTB: Hammond M3 parts

Hi- I have an M3 which recently went sick on me. Had it looked at and found out that the input transformer has gone bad.

Anyone have an M3 they want to part out or sell for cheap ?

Is this possible ? (Mac question)

I have a PowerMac G4 desktop that I run ProTools LE on. I'd like to get an iBook so that I can edit my tracks in some place other than my studio. I get burned out from being parked in my studio chair all day. My question is- would this be as simple as just buying an ibook and installing my PTLE soft...

Where to buy cassette tapes ???

Just recently got a tascam 238 cassette 8 track up and running. It records at high speed and I realize I'm going to need a big ass box of cassette tapes to keep up with this thing. So I'm looking for recommendations on a) what a good brand of tape is. and b) where I can get a nice big box for a good...

Where can I get an old EV mic repaired ?

Hi - I have an old EV 627a that needs repair. I think its just the on/off switch. Probably a simple fix.

Anyone know where I can take this to get worked on for a reasonable price ?

thanks- JD

Question for Joel H. re: g4

In the letters section of the latest tapeop, your studio partner Tony mentioned that you installed an exhaust tube onto the fan of your g4. Could you elaborate a little on how you did that ?

Many thanks, John.

Re: Gear Rant #584,598,932

just for the record... I Love My 2 C1000's. I think the little inserts you can add for hypercardiod or presence boost make these really versatile mics. I've gotten good sounds on clean or dirty electric guitars, mandolin, and cheapo keyboards thru cheapo amps. Never really understood why these thing...

Re: I need a QUIET guitar EQ stomp box.

yeah, I usually do place this pedal first in the signal chain. Most of the time its the only thing in the signal chain. and most of the time I dont touch the highs, usually I cut low end and maybe play around with low mids a little. What I've noticed is this: Just moving a fader away from zero adds ...

I need a QUIET guitar EQ stomp box.

The Boss pedal I have makes too much hissy noise.

Any Recommendations?

Re: Acoustic Guitar and Vocal mics

I think one obvious choice would be the shure SM57. It really can sound good on acoustic guitar or vocals. Not to mention kickdrum, snare, gtr amp, organ, etc. etc. etc. I think one thing to be careful about while micing acoustic or vocals with a 57 is proximity effect. If you get too close to this ...

Re: help...how do I clean tubes, contacts and drawbars?

Hey- Congrats on your hammond. You'll have fun with it. I've got an M-3 that I got at a thrift store with a leslie 122 for $300. :D At first I thought it needed some work that was going to cost some major $$$. But after checking on the web I found that there are tons of hammond fanatics on line. Jus...
