Re: Individual sounds

Dude, the stuff on your myspace page sounds good! I know exactly what you are talking about... now. That is what another engineer/mastering guy from Warner Bros. told me. The thing is.... I am not good enough yet to get the sounds the way they are supposed to sound. Maybe a message board or mailing ...

When I was JUST getting my feet wet with recording, the power outlet adjacent to the computer was a little wonky...I plugged my cheezy $100 Yamaha keyboard into the outlet to record on the computer...and the keyboard got completely fried! It was only a $100 jobby, but still - I put ductape over the ...

i gotta say clogging a toilet and not having the decency to say anything about it (ie figuring that the toilet would A) unclog itself or B) he would trick you into thinking that YOU had clogged the toilet?) warrants a $75 fine.

Meet Me in New Haven on Friday

On Friday, December 2nd, I'll be at the Kelher Liddell gallery in the Westville neighborhood with some CDs of my funky electronica and my freaky free jazz band . I'll be there from about 6:15 pm to 8 pm. There will be tons of cool visual artists showing off their wares and some live music also. If y...

Blip Festival in NYC this weekend?

http://www.blipfestival.org/ A buddy of mine just clued me in to this - I meant to go last year but somehow it wasn't on my radar. Is anybody else going? Anybody know about any cool workshops? Last year there was a cool circuit-bending/noise-making workshop, but it looks like this year is just some ...

Re: Panning the keyboard

Yeah I have a lot of options and panning is one of them. The keyboard has so many options and big words that is makes my head spin. Like LFO and Oscilators poly on mono etc. Why do you ask? Well, with some of the presets you may be able to edit them to make the panning less extreme. I don't know an...

Can you get into this keyboard and edit the pan settings? This is a real pain with a lot of keyboard presets - I swear the presets are made to sound good in the store; in a recording or gig situation, those "flourishes" become really problematic.

Interesting.

What'd you use for delay? And overdrive? And a radio?

You sort of started harmonizing with yourself at 1:24. Kinda cool.

I always thought that Burl Ives should do an album of Charles Ives stuff. Ha ha - for my free jazz group I did a piece with the subtitle "Charles and Burl were seperated at birth - it's true, look it up on the internet." One person played a bit of a folk melody, other people copied it/responded to ...

How bout Will Holland, of Quantic and Quantic Soul Orchestra? He's a jazz/electronica musician and producer on Ubiquity Records who does a fantastic job of making his albums sound "old." I think his techniques would be of interest to a lot of readers.
