Thanks. Luckily, the keys don't stick, although sometimes you have to really press the keys to get the note to sound (especially in the lower octaves.) Any advice there?

Sweet Rhodes! I had one of those Suitcases with the amp ... Cleaned it up, fixed a few things, tuned it and traded it back to the guy I got it from for a bedroom set. Thanks! I got it for under $500, which here in NYC is really amazing. It needs some work (a few new tines, tuning, replacing felts, ...

So I'm guessing that the weight of the bigger hats work well for those drummers that don't have as much control over their playing? Now what about close micing techniques- I've always used a SDC for that crispness- is anyone using anything different? Or some unusual positions? Not sure how much hel...

+1 on bigger hats. I never understood the 13" craze. I use 15", or occasionally 2 16" crashes (1 heavy, 1 medium).

That's the key for me. Take the frequencies that the ear hears as louder and use 'em.

Don't know of that specific unit, but I've been very happy with my TK Audio DP1 (Dual Mic Pre.) I remember hearing that TK Audio and VintageDesign were closely related, although can't remember exactly how. Sorry, that may not be very much useful information. Here's a comparison of the Vintagedesign ...

WTB - Fender Rhodes Electric Piano near NY / NJ

My wife finally gave me the go ahead to make some space for a piano, and I've always wanted a Rhodes. I can't spend a ton, but it doesn't have to be in great condition (I don't mind battered tolex, fixing a few keys, tuning, etc....) I am hoping for something with the legs and sustain pedal, as thos...

All mics are sold, sorry for not previously updating the post. I do still have the PAIA preamp, and will sell for $100 if anyone is interested. Again, local pickup is preferred.

Every place I've lived I've made a space to record in. In each case, there have been challenges and limitations, and in each place I've learned something new as a result. Find a way to record wherever you are, and it'll make you a better engineer in the long run.

Allentown's a lot closer to Philly or NYC.

I haven't had a chance to play them, but they're intriguing. Have you tried using the dealer location page on their web site, it looks like there are a few dealers near you.
