I prefer ensemble micing as opposed to close micing particularly with horns and strings. I would try a spaced pair of either the 414s or the 4033s and the royer ribbon as a slightly higher front overhead with the musicians set up like a traditional horn section would be on stage (side by side). Have...

Turning the PA ON and OFF in the wrong order can pop speakers too. You could get one of those power conditioners that powers up and down anything plugged into it in sequenced order and put the power amps last in the sequence.

I wish PTs mixer window had a polarity reverse button right on the channel somewhere.

Off the top of my head. Communication between all bands is important so that everyone gets to play their full and allotted time slots. Let everyone be aware of the set schedules including stage change over times between each band and try to stick to it as close as you can. Know in advance who is sha...

I totally think myspace is a great tool for bands too. It puts the power back into the musicians hands to control and change content at will and not have to rely on a web designer to do everything. Plus all the online traffic is hard to deny. Plugging it on stage just kinda bugs me personally thats ...

Um...should they not encourage people to buy their CD or come to their next show either? What's wrong with plugging the website? Oh it's not for me to say what any band wants to say on stage but for whatever reason I cringe whenever I hear "thank you very much! Check out our myspace page at www....".

I've done my fair share of weirdo FOH gigs but nothing remotely close to this. Watching them just standing there waiting for people to come into the room was just beyond sad. Then when he demands that they come in? That is pricelessly craptastic! 15 yard penalty at least. Just as bad as plugging you...

Never heard the keeley pedal but I do own one of these that has the keeley mod to the overdrive side. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Visual-Sound-Route-66-American-Overdrive?sku=151682&src=3SOSWXXA Anyway, I love this pedal. The compressor side of the pedal is great too. Super versatile. You...

I play a 64 jazz strung with 12s. Its my main guitar and the only mod on mine is a tiny notch carved into the low E part of the weirdo bridge. Problem solved with the string slipping out. I love it and I cant get myself to play any of my other guitars and I have some nice ones. An early 70s les paul...

Do you have any condensers? SM7s are great mics but not the best choice for quiet sources.
