Re: Oktava MK-012 Clips
Could it be the threads on the clips have stripped? I've got 5 of those clips, and 3 of them are unusable now because their soft threads have ground away as if they were made of pewter. I'm a careful guy, I'm pretty sure its not me. Its a shame, because those clips are useful for a lot of other mics...

Re: Jingles that haunt you....
The one that stuck like gelled gasoline for me as a kid was for Action Jackson, the '70s answer to GI Joe. In what can only be a subconsious psychological defense, I seem to have conflated it with something else, because now when I try to dredge it up, I get: Action Jackson, thats his name And away ...

Re: Building a homemade rack drawer?
I built one a few years ago, and I have to say it was such a pain in the ass that I'd rather pay for one of those overpriced pre-fab ones next time. If you've got the tools and the patience, you can find the parts you need at a junk yard... I used an old circuit box for the steel and slide rails fro...

Re: playing guitar and singing simultaneously
You're in good company - I heard Aretha Franklin is the same way w/piano. Maybe you're feeling the bigger musical picture when you play, so your performance rises to capture it. Does your guitar performance change too? You could go direct w/electric and then overdub the part later (any string sound ...

Re: Your-favorite non-musical sounds
I find some great qualities in the bits & pieces I edit out of tracks or samples that take on a life of their own once isolated. Finger squeaks, harmonics, breathing, falling gear, reverb trails, pre-squeal feedback bits.... sometimes manipulated, sometimes left alone. Some can make up whole atmoshp...

Re: where do you buy your cable
If you want "cheap plug and play" and "highest quality", and you're not into the DIY, Redco also sells snakes pre-made. Their TGS cable is meant to be directly comparable to Mogami, and is way cheaper. I like mine a lot. Surely a better price/quality ratio than musicians whatever.
