Avatar Bass Cabs?
So, since my cab was destroyed by the aforementioned basement flooding, i need to get a new one. any experience with avatar bass cabs? i'm thinking about the 4x10. sounds like a lot of cab for the dollar, giggably light but giggably loud. i know i could theoretically post about this on talkbass or s...

I appreciate the advice RefD but unforch its too late. I used fine Brooklyn tap water. I also used a soft toothbrush to go over every surface. I now have a whole slew of pedals and accessories drying out on a towel on my kitchen table with a fan blowing over them. That room has been wet for a couple...

my plan so far is toothbrushes. basically spread some kind of a dropcloth out on my kitchen table, get some screwdrivers, take everything apart and ziploc up the little screws, and then go toothbrush style over the other buts. i'm really worried about the mud: 1) it is fucking nasty. 2) if its in th...

MOTU 828mkII has two firewire ports on it. if you get a f/w interface...that is your soundcard. why would you need a new soundcard, for like system sounds or something? if so you can just use the built in mac speaker. One thing about going M-Audio is you can get PT M-Powered and not *have* to switch...

+1ing the MOTU 828mkII as well. I mean, to be fair, each of these has two preamps, but you can get to 24x24 on this way under 1500. Solid units, pretty good drivers. I really like this box. On the super-budge tip check out the M-Audio Delta 1010. 8x8, no pre's, no features at all really, but they wo...

a lot of equipment was spared, like all the racks, most of the amps, the drums, etc. were all on some kind of furniture that kept them out of the full shitstorm. a sweet rickenbacker swelled up and then busted at the bindings. a slimline tele copy also swelled and cracked in a different way. there w...

get ready for the fun world of time-slurring on the effected track if you want to bring it back in (rather than just run it on mixdown). How much is the delay? Can't you just slide it back into place? this is why you TRACK with compression. :D yeah, sure, but I have this irrational finger-on-chalkb...

semirigid fiberglass boards in brooklyn?
ok, so now I'm convinced to put together some type of bass traps, but where do you find these semirigid fiberglass boards? I called Met Lumber, that place on Metropolitan, Home Depot, and Lowes. No luck on any type of fiberglass board.

ok, done. Thanks for the help guys. I'll probably start with corner filling traps up by the ceiling. this has two advantages for me: one is the space, the second is it solves my resale / having to waste 703 cutting problem. The reason I was worried about moving the 703 isn't that there aren't 3,000 ...

treatments (such as super chunks) in a crappy room:Worth it?
let me preface this by saying i've never been in a studio with any kind of real acoustic treatment that I know of. i don't know anyone who has one. i see a lot of threads on here about bass trapping, etc. winer et al say bass trapping is the biggest win to start with. i record stuff in a trapezoidal...

james I don't know shit about electronics, like the Forrest Mims has never made it off my Wishlist into the Shopping Cart, but two things come to mind: 1) paia might sell a widget for this problem in kit form? I haven't read their catalog in like 100 years but i remember they had all kinds of midi->...
