Re: Does the music scene suck this bad where you live?
question for ya doyoudigworms?... Thinking of moving to New Orleans in a year or two... do you find the scene (excluding the watered down jazz/funk stuff you mention) more Rock orientated, electronic, experimental, etc.? I was there this spring and it seemed to be a blend of indie rock and electroni...

Re: Your favorite recorded guitar part ever?
Haven't heard that. I mean Both- the combination of the two together. How the performance and actual recording work together.

Your favorite recorded guitar part ever?
Not an entire song, I mean one riff or sequence of chords.
Can't decide on just one but my favs would be
1) Opening riff on MBV's Loveless ("Only Shallow")
or 2) opening riff of Shellac's At Action Park ("My Black Ass")

Re: Recording Guitar- Mic how far off the amp?
Thanks for the help. Yeah, it is a 57, and I too seem to get the best results about 3" to 6". Heylow, as far as the slight tilt, do you tilt away or toward the center of the cone? I'm thinking of getting a AT 4040 for a room mic, though I'm not sure how helpful it would b. I've been doing tests this...

Recording Guitar- Mic how far off the amp?
Micing my Fender Princeton I get a lot of different results varying the Mic position (obviously). Just out of curiosity how far do you guys usually set the Mic off the Amp? 3 inches? Do you give it room to breathe and set it off a foot?
Thanks for any help,
Wes

Good call on the GT2, blows the Pod away. I like it so much much I was thinking about getting the PSA-1. Anyone tried using this to record direct?

Re: Monitors around $700
I would say most definitely DO NOT get the Tannoy Reveals (a mistake which I made) for one simple reason- the low end cuts out at 62 Hz. Not too cool. I would say check out the Event TR8's which are only $500, and a much much better deal then the Reveals or the Maudio stuff.

Re: Minidisc to Computer: HELP
You really are going to have to record the audio, since as you say, the MD will only let you upload in MP3.
It's really not that difficult. Most likely you can just use your built in sound card and find a free multi-track recording program here:
