Chicago area studio tech

Hello everyone! I've been having issues with a console we've recently purchased. I'm looking for recommendations on a studio tech who makes field calls. We're located in Crete, IL about 30 miles south of downtown Chicago. The console is a Soundcraft 1624. I'd be happy to bring it to someone, but eve...

Hey Nick, I have a vintage recording studio south of Chicago. Using this equipment is a lot of fun and a challenge! When you talk about 1950's and 1960's recording technique, do you have a certain sound or song in mind. There's was a big difference between the early 50's and late 50's, same with the...

F/S Soundcraft 1624 Module Input and Buss Modules

I recently bought a Soundcraft 1624 to restore and it came with a bunch of extra modules. I already have a loaded frame, and I'm keeping a few for spares, but I still have some Id like to sell to someone that needs them. I have 9 input channel modules and 3 buss modules. I dont have the ability to t...

Soundcraft 1624 Schematics

Does anyone have a copy of the technical/ service manual or schematics for the 1624 console? The manual on the soundcraft website is only a "user guide." Thanks!

Thanks a ton for the info, Jim!

I have another question. Do you (or anyone else) have the service manuals/ schematics for a 1624 console? I can't get anything routed to my #2 buss (unless hard patched at the bay), and my manual doesn't have schematics or wiring diagrams for the ribbon cables.

Yep! I know all that stuff. Been bringing this 140 back up to date before I install it in my studio. Wired in a new AC cable to the motor and new extension cabling for the remote. Everythig functions as it should, except for the meter on the remote. Was looking for the manufacturer in order to find ...

Ampex MX-10 vs. RCA OP 7

Which would you rather own? I have an MX-10 and an MX-35. I'm thinking sometime in the near future I may look at selling one of them to pickup an op7. It's seems like they can be had for about the same price, although the MX-10/35 can sell for a few hundred cheaper than the op7. Makes me think they ...

Soundcraft Meter Lamps

Does any one know the specifications for the meter lamps on a Soundcraft 1624. I just bought a 1624 and all the meter lamps appear to be burnt out. Thanks!

We're still praying Roland Janes will sit down for an interview! Reviving an old thread here... :) Roland passed last Oct, but he had become a good friend. On one occasion, I asked if he had ever been interviewed for Tape Op. He couldn't really remember, but said he thought he did. He knew of the m...

Does anyone recognize this EMT 140 Remote?

This remote came with my EMT 140. Anyone recognize the the manufacturer? It has a hand engraved serial number on the back if that's of any help.

I appologize. Not sure how to embed a picture in this forum.

Ampex 351 noise

EDIT!

Looks like my noise is due to a recent switch to a new tape formula/ miss biased machine. It's always the simplest explanation! :)

Well I found a replacement connector. Thanks for your suggestions Waltz Mastering!

On ward to trouble shoot the no-signal-to-the-driver issue.

I'll update as I go along. I'm sure there are other's out there who may be interested on what I find.
