Re: Patchbays and signal path integrity
Yeah... I hope you like that warm cozy space between the wall and the back of your racks, because you'll spend a lot of time back there trying to track down down which HOSA channel suddenly stopped passing signal. If you don't know how to solder your own cables, you should learn, it's not difficult ...

Re: NPR...SOUNDS TOO CLEAN!
maybe it's because NPR plays stuff that most commercial radio staions don't... i.e. stuff most people actually listen to, and therefore you don't hear it coming off radio anywhere else. Exept of course off of a college station, but then the signal is so weak that audio fidelity is an afterthought an...

Re: Allen & Heath Boards
Iwould look for a used GL3k if you're looking to save a few bucks. the only difference being that the newer 3300 has 4 mute groups, which i guess may come in handy mixing. I bet you could pick up a used 3K for less than 3K. I really like the eq's on A&H. I'd say even a bit more than the comparably p...

Re: Oktava MK-319 mic review
I've had really good luck with this thing on kick drum, about 3-5 feet back off the head, mixed with another mic inside the drum. Of course unless you build a house around it, it's another overhead as well at that distance. It used to be my main vocal mic as well, but Having graduated to a Rode NTK ...

pinch roller pressure adj.?
:? I've recently purchased a Tascam MS-16 1" machine. It sounds amazing, even without the NR engaged. However, When using 499 it makes a disturbing rubber on rubber squeaking sound originating form the capstan, pinch roller area. However, with 456, the transport is totally silent. I know this has so...
