Thanks for your suggestions guys, I do appreciate them. I don't expect to completely soundproof the room (even though the word soundproof was in the title to the thread) more like "reduce the amount sound leaking out) of a room in a house I use for recording" Having said that, I want something NOT p...

Soundproofing a room in a house

I'm hoping to get some suggestions from you guys about how to soundproof (actually more like reduce the amount sound leaking out) of a room in a house I use for recording. The bedroom I want to treat has two windows that have pretty thick walls (it's an old place) and the windows are kinda deep with...

So.......I'm still in the dark. I rarely use compression and I try to make the loudest part of my track as loud as it can be before setting off the red. Is that wrong? Also, I have noticed that when I have a session with all of my tracks, and a mater fader at the end, I need to use a stereo limiter ...

I've tried to read this whole thread but I'm sorta confused at what you guys are even talking about. What is -18? And what does it mean when you say "-18dBFS (= line level or 0dBVU)"

I use Pro Tools so where should my levels be (on individual tracks and on my master fader)?

Thanks

The bachelors degree today is the high school diploma of 20 years ago. Your r?sum? will go straight into the circular file most places without one. None of my friends who are producers and engineers went to college and they seem to be doing just fine. What studio cares if you have a college degree ...

At the moment I can only think of three and I don't even think they were released this year (is that the criteria for a best of list or is stuff you;ve been listening to in 2007?). I'll update as I as think of a couple more. #1 record this year is the rough mix of Craig Craigstofferson's "A Final Bl...

Unfortunately there was no soundcheck just a line check. We decided to go with seperate keyboard monitor so he can balance his volume and then give them on send.

The monitor engineer had his keyboards coming out of his wedges BLASTING so my friend had to control his boards volume from this boards, which in turn affected the level the house saw, and we've heard there were problems with his keyboards being heard out front. Other than kicking the monitor engine...

Keyboards: Live - Using small mixer to control onstage volum

I could use some help. I know next to nothing about live keyboard set-ups but here goes. A good friend of mine is playing a couple of reunion concerts with his old band (one was on Wednesday night, the other is tonight) and I'm acting as his tech for the shows. Wednesday night the monitor guy had th...
