This was common place for country folks prior to the REA days. I know both of my parents families used batteries for radio. I'll have to ask my dad how they charged them.

Hi, I have a pair of the Fet Heads, and they sure do boost the gain. I've read that they boost the high end, IIRC, about 3db. That seems about right for what I hear. They also extend the patterns on both ribbon and dynamic mics, which may not always be what you want. You can always cut the high end, ...

I finally went with 7/64 after years of resistance. Wish I'd jumped long before. I started with a drive if 7/32 and when uad came out with 64 bit drivers, I added an ssd, 32 gigs and wow! The UAD Apollo 16 would do it, plus a lot more. Their plugs are real good on my UAD card. I use Reaper and Mixbu...

GT AM62 schematics and actual tube

Hi, I have on of these and I'm pretty sure the tube is done. It's marked as a GT 5840M, which would be a Mullard, but the 5840 is an 8 lead tube, according to suppliers I've talked to, and this tube only has 5. One tube dealer told me that it had to be an in-house number they had printed on it to di...

If you're at home with a studio console, Mix bus is at 2.3 right now. It doesn't have vsti or midi support yet, but on their forum, mix bus people are talking about it. If you watch a few videos @ You Tube, or maybe suscribe and watch, you'll get a $49+49 offer for the program and plugs. It has the ...

If you go to youtube and sign up for a Harrison mixbus deal of $49 & 49 for the program and basic effects, if you don't have it you have no idea of what you are getting. Just link in to watching their video school, and you'll get the 2.3.1 deal. I don't know what the 3.0 upgrade will cost, and, hone...

I'm for sure one of the Grandpa rock generation. My college buddy Bob and I actually opened for Benny Goodman in honest to God, Oshkosh, Wis. and I can testify: I miss Benny, he was awesome. One of my great uncles played with Miller and some of the other "Big Bands". He could play a convincing 'bone...

I bought it @ version 2, and love it. I hope they add midi + vsti's at some point, and then it's all I need. Until then, it and Reaper are all I need, with a few vsti's, a Duo Uad 2 and a couple of Slate proggies to fill the gaps. Together, these things make everything else I've bought since I left ...

I've had good luck with Asus mobos as well, am running a 990 fx sabertooth at the moment. Running a 250 gig ssd for C:, 32 gigs of ram. I like the WD Black drives for audio, they have bearings on both ends of the spindle vs the bottom only on others. Ram is cheap, now get the fastest you can. I'm us...
