Re: lost audio files?
this happened to me a couple years ago, lost a couple thousand files due to a bug in peak 2.5.2. you're not running that are you? there's a known bug in that version that causes this to happen if you batch process. anyway, i was able to get all my files back using norton disc recover, part of norton...

Re: Audio card prefs for Logic on a Mac
the emagic website used to have a page of hardware comparisons but i can't find it on thier new site. i used to use a delta1010 and it was very reliable. then switched to metric halo MIO and it's equally as solid. motu and rme are well supported too from what i gathered researching the MIO. i think ...

Re: Schumann Pedals
it's not easy to explain everything it does but put most simply, it's a square wave generator that's controlled by an input signal (guitar, synth, drum machine, etc). the 'signature' of the sound ultimately lies in the tracking circuit which is of itself an amazing thing. from my experience, most an...

also, radial engineering DIs are built to do this. i think they even refer to it as reamping. excellent DIs, btw.

Re: OS 9 and/or OS 10
i run 2 partitions as well. i'd advise doing that if you're just getting set up. i'm mostly using X these days w logic, peak and max/msp and rarely switch over to 9 except to use pluggo when i need to. anyway, your 9 will stay cleaner when it's on a seperate partition from X. apparently X can leave ...

for anyone interested in schumann info, your're right, there's nothing on the web. if you're curious, i'd be glad to to help by sending pics of the ones i have, though only one of them is a commercially released pedal, the PLL. just email me at pscottm@hotmail.com. or call main drag in brooklyn (718...

Re: What fx pedal would you like to see manufactured?
hey joel, right on w the schumann pedal. i got one of his new PLL pedals a couple months ago and it's a new world now. i love it! top guy too. he custom made a few pedals for me a while back, just stuff we dreamed up, like one w a momentary footswitch that induces feedback on a secondary signal chai...

Re: I dream of Calrec
been using a pr of averill pq1061s for a few weeks now and i'm hooked. for overheads, been using calrecs into distressors and it's all we need for a great 2-track drum sound. going to tape like that and it sounds fantastic. decided to lose the kick mic and snare mic altogether.

Re: firewire hard dirve
speaking of buying a drive and putting it in a case.. i use a 120GB 7200 rpm drive in a wiebetech firewire case. all aluminum, etc, compact and quiet, very happy w it. and not as big and heavy as my buddy's aluminum lacie. anyway, i recommend wiebetech mainly for thier superb support. just last week...

Re: IDM, Laptop Artists - The new folk?
i don't see a problem w it. has anyone seen oval play live, or fennesz? those guys will peel off the outer layer off your skull. ..and are fascinating to watch. also a totally different experience to listening to thier records. of course there will always be boring laptop artists, but there will als...
