just wanted to note one thing. Apple lossless compression is different than AAC. And i don't see the point to the apple lossless because sometimes it makes the file bigger!! Why not just drop aiff or wav on their...... Yeah apple needs to get off the high horse and let someone make some recording de...

For protools you dont need an external hard drive. You just need another one. That dosent mean a partition . Another physical spinning round chunk of magnetic media. You can get extra drives (internal or ex) from anywhere, even the mac store. If your buying new you can get it put in the box for you ...

I think a producers job is a lot of things. He/she can settle differences/arguments between artists and engineers or between singer and drummer. I think a producer should be able to do everything in the studio from tuning the guitar to making the snare explode out of the speakers. Having more people...

I think its a good idea for engineers to actually do the mp3 encoding, so you can make better sounding mp3's. I think the engineer should be in charge of making the disicion on the mp3 encoding, bit rate, size, codec.... Listen to The Postal Service "Give Up" that sounds pretty "lo-fi" to me, possib...

I understand it to be the opposite of how you put it 'el cannibalisto' Its harder for a microphones diaphragm to recreate High Frequencies Because it has to move really fast. So its its not light and fast then it can't reproduce the highs. thats probly why your teacher liked those SDC omni's.

The thing about the earbuds and and the related. Good mix engineers have always checked their mixes on the "lowest common denominator" wheather it be a speaker from an old Ford truck dash board, or some new fangled white corded earbuds. Good Mix engineers also check to see what their tune/album will...

Yeah thats a pretty good check. But they dont sound anything like ns-10's but still a good comparison for what they mean to the "plain people". When i think of the apple ear buds i think hyped (scooped) as aposed to mid boost.

The KRK V8's are very simple to open up. That would be a very simple test to see if its the driver or the amp that has the issue. The screws holding the speaker on are on the outside of everything. Also the wire to the speaker is just a slide on jobby no soldering or anything! Easy peasy!!

there is a thread on B&W in this very forum. B&W speakers are used in Abbey Road. At 600 bones I bet you would get something better than a speaker that says "studio monitor" on it. There is a lot of stuff in that other thread....

That is a podcast I listen to sometimes. Its from a pretty cool indie music news site. The main guy uses the mic you speak of, i just asked him the other day. Sounds pretty clear to me, even after the low quality mp3's that are podcasts.
