Re: I highly recommend REAPER
I love reaper and wholeheartedly endorse giving it a try. To see how you like the EQ can try using it's as a free vst plugin along with some other of it's basic effects: https://www.reaper.fm/reaplugs/

Re: Time for some home studio upgrades...help me spend $10K
What’s the issue with the Neve 1073 500 stuff? Almost thought about grabbing one as a change of flavor to the CAPIs I’ve got coming... Almost went with 2 Tonelux EQ5Ps for stereo EQs. But I couldn’t find enough talk about them anywhere. The demos I listened to sounded good. Anyone have any opinions...

too long. I hold on to them for the move I've been expecting to make for the last nine years.

Re: Using reverb to differentiate lead and backing vocals
Something I tried recently I liked:
Quiet verse vocals went into a small room reverb
Snare also went into the room reverb
chorus lead vocals and backing vocals went into a plate reverb panned hard left, and a hall reverb panned hard right.

Re: the return of the ubertar ribbon mic
I'll take 2 and I can pay! Lol. I find myself using this old school TOMB deep cut with friends and family and they just look at me funny, or funnier than usual. One of the two TOMB ribbon mics I got in the group buy is still working nicely and is a favorite of the singer in my band. I'm tempted to ...

Try disabling the automatic driver update, then you should be able to uninstall and reinstall your preferred driver:

Re: gadgetlabs wavepro drivers for Windows 10???
I'm quite happy with the Focusrite clarett USB. The mic pres are surprisingly good for the price, and I can do very low latency as long as I'm not going too crazy with plugins. Not bad for a 6-year old laptop. I had the Focusrite scarlett before hand and was less impressed with the sound quality, th...

Re: Mixing a band with a single, mono electric guitar
I've been digging using 2 coincident mics, a dynamic or ribbon pointed dead center and a condenser (in figure 8 if I want a little more room sound) pointed 45 degrees off. I'll pan them slightly apart, and compress and eq as a group so that I don't mess up the phase coherency.

Re: Sytek no longer making the MPX 4aii?
I've got 2 stock channels, 2 J-fet, I tend to use the j-fet channels with things where the highs need a little taming, a screechy violin or overly sizzly snare, or a kick that needs fattening.

Re: Mixing template in Reaper
I'm not an expert, but in general my understanding is you don't want to turn down your audio if you don't need to. Reaper's mix bus is pretty robust, so you shouldn't be losing too much information (useful bits of your audio) if you are turning it down at the track level. But I can't vouch for whate...

Re: Mixing template in Reaper
if your individual tracks are at unity, where does your bus end up hitting? You said the individual tracks are around -15, so they might be good around unity (adjusting as needed obviously, you are mixing not just adding tracks) as long as the bus isn't in the red. Then adjust the busses gain to hit ...

Behringer U-CONTROL-UCA202 go for $30 and give you RCA ins and outs. Of course you'll still need the usb-c to a adapter.
