I agree you should find someone with multiple ins and save the headache, but just for the record as an interesting technique I've used.... aligning multiple batches of tracks coming in from a tape machine CAN be done with a minimum of fuss, but what you need is a common "start" and "finish" tone (id...

When did Quantegy decide to stop making tape. Again....? Thats a scary thought, no more quantegy. Thought they be around for longer than a year and a half after they came back from bankruptcy. Damn. Don't sweat it...if anyone here hasn't heard already, ATR is just about ready to roll (pun?) finally...

Tony I'm the guy that gave you the heads-up and also started this thread. I'll also be the first to say kudos to you for seeing the big picture...if somebody emailed me about all this I'd probably get all defensive and tell everybody to go fuck themselves. You're the man, man. Everybody has oversigh...

Hey dudes, This is not MY business so don't dismiss this post as spam...it ain't. I was just told about this guy's site and I thought everyone should know about it 'cuz it seems like a good deal for you smalltime pros out there (like me) who may need string arrangements every once in a while on a ve...

Thank you mastah. And yeah, as to you first point that is quite true I now know. It's better to review the passage first and make a decision as to where to cue the player to start redoing the part and then figureing out for yourself where you actually will punch him in/pout. Also Mark is totally rig...

Thanks, man! Well, it's officially a "rough" because I did it on my own and the client hasn't sat down with me for a list of adjustments just yet but I did spend some time on it to be sure. The acoustics are as such: one dreadnought recorded in mono and one twelve-string (playing the same part) reco...

I've been working on this guy's E.P. for the better part of a year. He'll come in about one Saturday every month or every other month and work for about 6 hours. Sometimes he'll come in and totally scrap something and re-do it 'cuz he's changed song structure in the interim. So anyhow we're finally ...

I think I'm that guy in California. I think Tony what you may have been watching me do was not so much a function of having "the fear" (to praphrase Dr. Gonzo) of punching in at the right spot. It's more that having a bit extra at the beginning and ending of the punch allows me to look at the overla...

Looking to borrow 1/4" or 1/2" 2-track deck in SF
Hey Gang, I've got a recording session coming up middle of November where the client has rquested that we mix "live" to tape instead of my usual DAW/automated kinda thing. We'll be recording to analog 8-track and he wants to keep the signal path analog all the way to vinyl if possible. So, before I ...

Re: Bob Dylan Says Modern Music Is Worthless
LOS ANGELES (Aug. 22) - Bob Dylan says modern recordings sound "atrocious," and even the songs on his new album sounded much better in the studio than on disc." yeah but he was probably listening to it over the crappy PA at one of the fourteen-million Starbucks where his records are being whored out.
