Re: Carpal Tunnel Surgery
Cheapest two things you could do right away is switch your mouse to the other hand and then use the Dvorak layout. Both take a little getting used to, but are generally well worth doing. And any modern operating system will have a Dvorak option in the keyboard language settings. I'll try this... af...

Re: Carpal Tunnel Surgery
Hope it all worked out, Nick. I had my right wrist done about a decade ago. The left needed it but never got it. Well, they are both candidates once again. But technology and approach has changed, and my most recent consulting doctor said “let’s wait awhile.” Both shoulders are worse anyway. I just ...

Re: New EP — Done entirely in the home studio
Well done Alex! (Finally listening after a year—Sorry!). The first two songs are very “80’s Brit-pop-y” to me, they sound like Robert Fripp producing the Edge playing with “XT-Tears for Thompson Twins” (in my world that’s a good thing). I also hear some Prog influences a la the first U.K. album. Ver...

Re: The Bad Plus
I always get them confused with Soulive, from my hometown, and also one of the members was formerly a denizen of this very TOMB.

Re: List of Jazz or Soul Records that used an old drum machine?
Also check out The Wailers "Rainbow Country;" number 15 on the "Bob Marley & The Wailers-- Roots of a Legend" CD. Earlier material recorded in the Lee "Scratch" Perry era, it's very hard to tell one way or the other, but the drums have a mechanized feel, seem to be a one-bar loop, and if they were p...

Re: List of Jazz or Soul Records that used an old drum machine?
Good call Jitters; wouldn't have remembered that one. Wikipedia and another source say it was an "electric timbale" (that's a quote from someone at Hi). But I've never heard of one of those. I wonder if they mean something like the Synare? Which would not be a drum-machine per se, but it is an analo...

Re: Topicality - "The Situation"
Point of Order-- The movie I was riffing off of was called "A Bronx Tale." But, your story is very funny. You should go back to the group with a copped Hemingway story featuring a mackinaw jacket, like Danny Bonaduci did in that episode of "Partridge Family" where Susan Dey is the student teacher gi...

I was going to write a song about Frankie Four-Fingaz and Tommy Two Times (Two Times).
