WTB: Audio Technica ATM35

Looking for a working Audio Technica ATM35 (the little clip-on cardioid with the battery pack).

PM me if you got one you can spare.

Cool. I just downloaded the schems from Rod's site. I'll pour over them.

Thanks everyone.

Awesome info, thanks guys. What sort of mic transformer did you put in your pre, Ubertar? Are you going to the EF86 stage as well? Also, Rod, if you use just that EF86 tape playback stage, does a typical Roberts/Akai deck yield two pres? (Or just one?) If I do this, I'd likely want the highest quali...

Rod, Thanks for posting so much info on these old beauties! I've had one of the Akai M8s sitting around for awhile (complete with matching M7 microphone). I picked it up at a garage sale a couple years ago. Couldn't resist - it's nearly mint, and just so pretty lookin'. However, it rarely sees use. ...

I like the idea of a single room, but sometimes you still need a little isolation. So when I built my room, I made a large control room and a small iso booth so I have somewhere to stick loud amps, etc. Curt's right. I should have mentioned - I have an iso booth too. They still have their place - m...

I've got a "one room" space. I love it. At this point, I'm pretty much a one-room studio evangelist. I've had control rooms before, but I'll never go back. For me, the process of producing bands/musicians - and myself - in the actual space where the music is happening was, to put it mildly, a revela...

Had good luck with older EV omni dynamics - RE55s, 682As, 635As, that sort of thing. Getting a bit of air between the mic and the mando helps too (as others have said).

Hey centurymantra, What's going on... I remember you, are you still working that nice big room in Lansing? Anyway, as a fellow one-room studio guy, I'd vote for keeping all the players in one room. I do this sort of recording all the time - drum kit, upright bass, acoustic guitar/banjo/whatever, may...

I've always thought Boston's first was perhaps the ultimate TapeOp album. In its day, it was the biggest selling record of ALL TIME... and it was mostly recorded at home! (By someone working on it part time, while keeping a "day" job!) Love that. Plus, lots of the gear was DIY stuff built by Scholz....

Anyone tried it on kick or snare? Sounds like a good candidate for that... maybe I should just plug mine in :).

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Guys, I picked up one of these Altec 1592a's for $50 a while back. Haven't even plugged it in, apart from testing it for signal.

What are they good for? Would love to find a use for it... Sounds like somebody here likes it?

Best,
Adam

And, if you're not familiar with the Detroit real estate market, you'll soon find out that it will probably sell for quite a bit less than the asking price too. Ok, here's my weird, intellectual theory about Springsteen. As a teenager discovering classic rock in the '80s, I was also underwhelmed with Bruce Springsteen. (I also don't care for his recent stuff - The Rising, Devils & Dust; although that Pete Seeger tribute is fun). Somewhere in my 20s, Bruce '...

I like this post. Don't dog him on the details. I know what he means. Or at least what I think he means. That is, the overall level of recording quality is so much higher than it used to be. I remember the old 'demo days' of the '80s - when every unsigned bands' sampler came on cassette... and sound...
