On every record I have been a part of, individual instruments were faded as they fell off at mix time, but the overall fade was left for the ME. I totally see some of the resons for doing so, but truth be told, I see myself possibly trying to at least do passes of both faded and non-faded (for ass-s...

I also swear by CDEX with LAME encoder. I rip everything at the "INSANE" preset, which is 320kbps. This feels like a happy medium for me....not quite the original quality, but damn close...good anough for my ipod, anyway. On a related note, I have also done tests with iTunes' encoding...what a joke....

David - You got some solid tracks there! You should be proud. I'll be picking up the album for sure. Chris - Great work all around! BGV and steel sound real nice in the mix. Dig the bells on the first tune, too. Stu *wishing he knew a pedal steel player* Much appreciated, Stu! Thanks! I was wishing...

My New Record, Chris Garges, enjoy, etc....

Hey guys... I just got done wrapping up a new record that I'd been putting together for for the last year and a half or so. The record was kind of a joint effort between Chris Garges and I and was a lot of fun to do. Chris and I basicly had a long distance recording thing happening where I sent him ...

Mark... Thanks, man! I really appreciate the compliments. Actually the songwriter thing is probably about the best compliment I could get these days as far as I'm concerned. Chris... I still can't believe that, man....that's just totally nuts. Of course it's the new gear...it's always the new gear. ...

I wanted to give this a bump. I know I have already said this, but mastering has taken kind of a while. We got a bit tweaky with it. I'm down to 2 versions (rev3 and 4) and I'm going to have to figure it out quick because this thing needs to get to pressing. Ha! I have honestly never gotten this gee...

Recent email correspondence with Mitch Easter about Dave's album and the success of the inaugural Amek session: Me: In fact, we had nine days booked to mix ten songs and we were done in six days. That NEVER happens to me. It really was the total ideal and I wish all my sessions could be like that. ...

I just did a record where just about everything (ac/el guitars, vocals, mando, harmonica, whatever) went through the TLA50 in some way. To me, the trick is using is very sparingly. I tended to let it really hit on some things....different things at different times, but most of the time I barely move...

I haven't posted stuff up yet because there is some mastering revision stuff being done. Shouldn't be too long, though.

So true! Have you driven with Garges? That boy is not afraid of the accelarator! Maybe, but Dave's "________ in a _______ MPH zone" is really impressive. Chris Garges Charlotte, NC I have NOT driven with Garges, actually. He might not be fast enough for me. I think what garges is too polite ...

Chris Garges Charlotte, NC Yeah....except too bad no one's coming to pick me up...I got a loooonnnggg drive home, man. I got cited ...

Heart of the Matador and Freeze Motherstickers are in pretty much constant rotation here at the ranch. :^:
Thanks, man! I really appreciate that. Though, I should warn you...the new stuff is definitely a departure from either of those records.
