I gave it a try for sh*ts and giggles. It didn't really impress much; not that it's not good, it just doesn't do anything new or different in the saturation plugin field (IMHO). I don't think it'd be a contender if you already have Decapitator or another quality saturation plugin.

Well, whatever you're doing, they both sound awesome and are an absolute steal at the price!

Both algorithms were written by Sean Costello (or maybe you knew that and the subtle humour flew over my head  ).

Right now I am trying to fix this mix with some of the aformentioned stillwell plugs. The newest version of his neve-alike eq now has a narrow switch. Which is great for trying to tame the peircing upper mids and muddy lower mids. Sorry to re-direct for a second, but you may want to check out this ...

I've been reading about this quite a bit lately and one interesting thing that's come up is that a lot of plugins tend to alias (generate distortion not harmonically related to the source signal) less at higher sample rates. I've done some testing with plugs I own and found this to be true. I don't...

I have a handful of the old Levelars and a Tubepac and use them constantly for tracking vocals and bass. I've owned both the VLA I and II and I preferred the original, mostly for the auto attack and release. I think they're all great units.

Have you tried the PSP Oldtimer? It's cheap, really easy to dial in and IMHO sounds very good on most vocals I've tried it on.

They make nice stuff and the devs seem really cool. Plus, they give you unlimited 60 day demos of all their plugins so you get a real chance to put them through their paces. I've tried the limiter and it sounds pretty good but it's not really something I need. I liked their preamp quite a bit too bu...

i own or have demo'd most all of the saturation plugs and for my money - the Decapitator just kills em all. it is really versatile and can totally thicken and distort in such a nice way. distortion seems to be the hardest thing to emulate in dig - not many other plugs i have heard do it well AT ALL...

No room treatment or anything like that. I haven't listened to your clip yet, but you really need to address your room before you worry about anything else. Treating my mixing/recording space was the single biggest difference for me and when I finally started turning out mixes that sounded "pro", w...

You may want to check out Soundtoy's Decapitator. It doesn't do "tape", though I don't think anything does, but it's really vibey and sounds more "real" by a long-shot than anything else I've tried. Be warned though, it's a CPU hog and it's easy to over-do it with this plug.
