MacBook Pro and a ULN-2? or even a ULN8? The Metric Halo stuff is the single best value you are ever going to get out of an investment in digital hardware. My 2882 started off life ten years ago as a +DSP unit, got upgraded to current spec with a 2d card a few years ago, and will be upgraded again t...

My understanding is that loudness wars got started with jukeboxes. The radio explanation doesn't make sense because--though what you say about soft signal and dropouts is true, every radio station employs a chain of limiting, multiband compression, 15 khz lo-pass, etc before the signal heads to the...

I think part of what drives loudness wars is people listening on earbuds, and people listening on players that don't have a lot of headroom. But maybe I'm wrong? Also, better audio would reveal more of the annoying artifacts associated with brickwall limiting, and thus discourage it? Perhaps I'm be...

FWIW, I like the Chunks feature of Digital Performer, but other than that, the interface drives me up the wall.

Logic has got better and better over the years, and the current version (10.0.6) is probably the nicest (read: least annoying) it's ever been.

The reverb is fine, its only the echo thats quiet. What about the echo pot? I've checked the internal level pot and its cranked already. The external pot seems to function properly. Sorry to run through the "Is it plugged in?"-variety questions. I cannot count how many times the solution to a studi...

What about the Echo Volume pot?

Does the Reverb come through, or is that equally soft?

That's not a secure delete, though. That just deletes the directory, exactly the same as when you simply trash something in the Finder. If you want to *secure* delete something, that simply takes time. Every bit has to be erased, overwritten, erased again, overwritten, etc. If you don't have the tim...

The bass synth on Dernier Volta sounds a lot like a Roland JX-8P, preset 16 "Synth Bass". The chorus on there smells of Roland, and the filter and envelope fit, as well.

Though you could probably get a very similar sound with any dual-sawtooth and a 24dB filter, run through an appropriate chorus.

Your clarification is very much appreciated. Saved and filed for future reference.

And FWIW, I was referring to isochronous mode.

FWIW - the speeds: Firefire 400 = 400 Mbit/s USB 2.0 = 480 Mbit/s FireWire 800 = 800 Mbit/s USB 3.0 = 5 Gbit/s Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_device_bit_rates#Peripheral Those are nominal bitrates, and as such, do not mean what you think they mean. FW400, for example, GUARANTEES a sus...
