maybe I shouldnt have used the J word, mostly what I meant was, I think that I am finding myself creating and playing more sophisticated and intricate chord voicings, and more thought out melodic solos, where as I have been known to throw a million notes and a bunch of tricks into a solo I find more...

it would help if we knew more about your situation, if your using a DAW, piss on a finalizer, Wavelab or Soundforge and an L1 or L2 Ultramax is the way to go, how and what are you recording?

I think Meriphew might have hit it on the head, probably a maturing process, I can feel silly shreding the metal chops even though my kids teenage buddys are all quite impressed, I just seem to get more satisfaction these days voicing obscure melodys with diffent time structures, maybe it's a phase,...

I'm currently running the 8 busses out of my Mackie 8 buss, hooked to an MS16, into my daw ( Sonar 3) for editing, adding additional effects and tracks, audio trickery etc, ( really like being able to run a compressor on every track when I want to) and I gotta say, I am pretty happy with the results...

I got an SR 16 midi'd up to a D5 it aaaannnhhh, so so, but it sucks, got triggers on my drums, but they are just frustrating to try and work with, nothing sounds like a real kit

I have the DVD of the making of classic albums "the Number of the Beast" Iron Maiden of course, pretty tough, got in on ebay for 2 bucks

HUH? Who's Next is a drumming masterpiece, NOBODY was throwing triplets and quad's like that at that time, what a perfectly beautiful mess that whole album is, Keiths dynamics are awsome, at that time he was way on top of his "game" he wasn't a basher per-se, look at the performances archived on tap...

I dont know why people accuse Keith of being a basher, every thing I have seen suggest that he was pretty light handed, epspecially by comparrison to a lot of cats today
