I've had the molded to fit ones since the mid 90's. I've gotten to the point to where I can't stand to be around loud music without them. It took a while to get used to using them especially playing live but once I did it's been fine. I hear things way better now. I remember back in '94 I had a hear...

Get your hands on a small mixer like a 6 channel Mackie or something and submix your drums to 2 channels and then feed that to your 4 track. Otherwise what was said above....4 mics=4 mic pres.

I bought one a couple months ago...Love it. I too have run into scores of musicians who don't know what a strobe tuner is.

I was pretty surprised by some of these sounds being the Fathead fan that I am...I'd buy one of those Teac mics if I ever come across it. The thing that struck me the most was if you have those mics available you can combine a couple in your mix and easily find a wide range of sonic options. A nice ...

Yea man...good job...Wish I had more guts to that stuff. But I would feel better about doing it on some of the mics mentioned in these posts like a Cad or Cascade than a vintage RCA or something. I've got a couple old Reslos that I should open up and have a look just to see what goes on in there. Th...

The Symetrix 501 is nice to have...Toft makes a Fet styled compressor that you might be able to get into for just under 500, at least for one channel. I think I paid 700 for the stereo one a few years ago. You might get really lucky and get an LA 4 for 500. Those are the ones that I use the most and...

Love the band name.....What kind of Tascam did you dump your mix to? I'd agree the digital one sounds much brighter and maybe not as glued together as the tape.

Do you have any way to borrow a mixer that you can submix your drums down to one channel and run that into the four track? That would help keep your drums in order and then you could either go back overdub to your drum track or just record everyone at the same time. Bleed from other tracks is not al...

You might want to look at other boards for example the older Soundcraft boards like the 600 series. They're quite huge but they have nice sounding pres and you get to return your sends back in to the board. Granted they may not have all the features of the Toft but if you're looking at a certain pri...

Try everything you can....Your sense of what sounds right is going to be different than anyone else. You shouldn't have trouble with the balanced and unbalanced connections as long as they're fairly short lengths and you don't get any interference from your other equipment. I've used multiple drum m...

Seems like a reasonable price if it's in decent shape. Let me know if you're going to pass on it. I'll take a chance on it.
