microphone death

how many have just crapped out on you? i'm not talking you dropped it or spilled coffee on it. i just had my third Beta 52 die - second in 2.5 years. I sent the last one back to Shure for replacement/"repair" and I've honestly barely used it since - Beta 91 or Beyer D71C are first choices, usually. ...

Re: DAW as live mixer suggestions

i'd assume i would also mix it later, but just hoping to have the live feed sound decent, so wanted to have some processing. admittedly, still waiting to hear from the video person to see what they need from me. hell, maybe 50 msec will be fine?! i don't know, honestly. just trying to plan for lowes...

Re: DAW as live mixer suggestions

i know i can use the antelope mixer, if i need to, but it's literally just faders. no eq or dynamics at all (it's an older interface - the Orion 32). not the end of the world, but would prefer to not tie my hands before i start

Re: DAW as live mixer suggestions

important things I failed to mention: - this is a live streaming thing - no PA being used. just being done in my live room. - this is a favor for friends who have lost a lot of work since COVID. doing it for free. not gonna rent anything. as for DAWs, i'm most comfortable with cubase and planned on ...

Re: DAW as live mixer suggestions

they do have a "near 0" latency mixer but only the newer interfaces offer it with any kind of processing - eq/dynamics/etc. i have an OG Orion 32, so I am SOL for that.

DAW as live mixer suggestions

I know this can be done, but this is the first time i'll be doing it, aside from a monitor mix. unfortunately, i sold all of my decent outboard compressors years ago and my old soundcraft ghost is unusable. i know latency takes all of my UAD out of the running, so am i stuck with using Waves channel...

anyone sell their own samples?

curious about security for this kind of thing. making a plan with a friend. want it to be affordable, but want to have some kind of security for it, though we are thinking pretty small in scale.

SOLD BLA Auteur dual mic pre

went a bit nuts buying pres lately. This works just fine, but I never have a need for it - too many others to choose from.

I believe this is the MKI version - no rack ears, wall wart power supply, etc. happy to send pics to interested parties.

$275 shipped.

Re: Presonus Eureka DIY Mods / Revive Audio Mods worth it?

+1 on just getting something else.

i recognize you may not have a 500 rack (can be had used for fairly cheap), but you can get used capi modules for around $300 all the time, already assembled and they rock

but ribbons are dynamic mics also!

news to me that they effect condensers with transformers. I guess I've never thought to check, admittedly.

Re: mastering tricks for gaining level

most things i work on are loud and distorted as hell, so bear that in mind. but the things that helped me the most to get my level up without ruining my mix are the ProAudioDSP DSM-3 and the Oxford Inflator. though i'm curious, if you're also mixing them, are there things you "save" for mastering in...
