thanks for the reply but i am not looking for 8 channels of converters. i already have those, i just dont have an interface for my PC that will accept ADAT I/O. I need that to be able to use the converters I already have.

I have been thinking something like the EMI 1212m or RME Digi 96/8 PAD.

So, comes down to whether you want it to sound like original, or to sound "different" =) I have re-ribboned the 260 using a conventional corrugatin with decent results, which does not mean I'm volunteering for this one how much would you charge? 8) any thoughts on what the difference in sound was l...

repairing a beyer m260?

i have a m260 that seems to have problems. every so often when i am using it the frequency response seems to change and get all honky sounding. im assuming this indicates there is a problem with the ribbon. i got the mic used and i think its pretty old so that would make sense. should i send it back...

I think they're like siblings, or more likely, cousins. I have a 117 and 119, and I don't think they sound exactly like a 160... but I recently wired them up with a balanced/unbalanced (and +4/-10) converter and they sound even better than before. would you care to explain how you did this? im real...

If I were in your position, I'd just go on ebay or something comparable and get an old Alesis Adat. They're really cheap these days, and actually have pretty decent converters, IMHO. That'll give you 8 I/O for next to nothing. Even if the Adat motor or heads are bad, you won't need them if you're n...

There seem to be lots of folks on the net who had problems with these. So the reason for me starting this thread is that i was won...

id like to hear abit more about the idea of using two bass drums taped(?) together, infront of each other. I read that the first Franz Ferdinand album was recorded like this, with a 57 in side of the second kick. Anyone ever tried it?

what exactly is a watermarked cd?

I have heard somethings on other message boards about advance copies of albums containing some type of watermark so that if an album leaks early, it can be traced to the exact copy that it came from. Is this some sort of thing that is in the audio itself or just a data thing? anyone have any ideas?
