You can download Pro Tools 7.4 here http://store.digidesign.com/us/index.cfm?page=templates/product_detail&PartNumber=pt7.4LE&categoryid=16 $75 for the full install. Should work fine. I bought a used Mbox a couple of years ago and downloaded PT 6.9 from Digi's site. Never had to give a serial # or a...

Verizon? I haven't heard any problems with Verizon's phones - I thought they were CDMA, no?

It is my understanding that PTHD is only compatible with OSX10.5 on the newest Mac Pros - the 8-core ones.

Topic: voice over levels for radio broadcast?

As far as I know, there are no real "specs" for radio broadcast like there are for television. Usually there is a Board Op (or a computer) that will adjust your levels in addition to whatever compressors/limiters in the broadcast chain. Nowadays I peak at -0.5 or so, but I used to release stuff at m...

There is something very satisfying about zeroing in with the spring loaded sucker, cocking it, and pulling the trigger for a successful solder suck. I'm not sure why.

this was a home accident, not a studio accident. i was at home relaxing, doing some emailing/watching tv. of course i shouldn't have put the wine down next to the computer, but i did. the cat was doing something he shouldn't have, and i turned quickly to yell "NO". my hand hit the glass. everything ...

Red Red Wine Into Macbook Pro, Please Ease My Pain

Tonight I spilled a full glass of red wine into my Macbook Pro. I was not drunk, it was just an unfortunate occurrence. I shut it down, took it apart, dried it out, but it will not start. I'll take it to Tekserve tomorrow, but I'm not optimistic. Friends, please share with me stories of boneheaded t...

Gaaah, this is like Lucas "fixing" Star Wars to make Greedo shoot first. It is what it is, and one man's "improvement" is another's desecration. ++++++1,000,000,000,000. Once it's done it's done. Although........I wish someone would remix all those Replacements records without that horrid 80's prod...

Is this really that much faster/better than using the quick keys that are already there? Between A, S, D, and G (trim to start, trim to end, fade from start, fade to end) and apple + T, it is pretty easy to edit and fade regions quickly.

Am I missing something?

Oh, and the price drop to $199? They did the exact same thing with the Core 2. They dropped the price WAY down from what they were originally going for, presumably to clear their inventory. And then they dropped support and abandoned anybody who owned a Core 2. Nice.

Beware...

Suck it, Lexicon!

Anytime somebody mentions buying a Lexicon product, particularly an interface, I am compelled to tell this story: I bought a Lexicon Core 2 interface in 2000. It worked fine and sounded good. Lexicon then proceeded to drop ALL SUPPORT FOR THIS PRODUCT in 2001. Meaning that when I wanted/needed to up...

Live Sound Gig in Brooklyn

Looks like Sound Fix in Williamsburg is looking for an engineer.

Just thought I'd pass it along.

Additionally, there seem to be some opportunities for female nude models to pose for "well known art photographers".
