Well if you truly are recording in a bunch of different spaces, then I suppose that the need for room treatment is less pressing. However, I would then suggest gobos so that you have some abilty for separation within those multiple spaces. As for your friend's mixing space, just keep in mind that yo...

Why don't you want anyone to recommend room treatment? The thing is, you have access to a bunch of mics, so more mics aren't a necessity right now. And you can always track bass and vocals quieter and add compression via software; no, it's not the same thing, but for your purposes it's the financial...

one mic for each section is a good way to go, and you would all lean in to the mic to get your voices as close to the mic as possible. think Bruce Springsteen, Clemens, and and Van Zant all crowded in on the mic.....the closer you get the better it will sound as long as you all balance your own sin...

So... are we crazy? Or are we really 'on to something?' That depends on whether or not you're going to actually promote the damn thing. Are you planning to just bring a suitcase full of them to each show and expect to sell 25 or 30? Because that's probably not going to happen, even at $5 apiece, ha...

Duplicate the clean track, make a compressed/distorted track using plugs, mix to taste. Usually I like to either delay the entire distorted track a touch, (40-80 ms), or add a bit of slap or short, thick reverb to it. I'll use either the plugs that come with Logic/Mainstage, such as Distortion II, O...

Yeah, a couple of years ago I was at a show and one of the guitarists had a Valn?tt. I was pretty blown away by it, but apparently he didn't know how to harness its awesome power. About three songs in his speaker cab quickly became engulfed in flames, and even then it was such an all out sonic assau...

Yes, and Brian Eno got $35,000 for the Windows 95 startup theme. When I'm producing for Microsoft I'll happily pay more.

But the bumper music for a podcast about supply chain management applications for the textile industry? Sorry, but the budget isn't there.

I actually do this type of work, and typically I pay between $300-$500 for exclusive use of music for podcast themes, web-based marketing videos, etc. Yes, there are variables, such as: the size of the client company, how else they plan to use it, (conferences, investor presentations, etc.), how par...

That looks like a bit of fun, I'd be willing to give it a shot.

Although, kind of ironic that you're asking around when the original mixer's handle is MoreSpaceEcho, don't you think?

Wow, that email was so shitty that it made me mad. And I never even so much as thought about buying a Duende. It seems like for very little expense they could have at least offered a coupon, (with a reasonable expiration date - say a year or so), to get the native version for upgrade price or whatev...

I just bought a Zoom H1 for a project I'm working on. I bought it because it was $99, sound quality isn't a huge deal, and I don't know how much use it will get after this project. Simplicity was a primary requirement. It's ok, and the sound quality is better than I expected. However, the constructi...

>>>>It's cyclical.<<<< That's the important thing to remember. It _is_ cyclical. Things suck in lots of ways right now. But then again, things sucked in lots of ways "back then." But _someone_ is going to find a new way of delivering music and other content that can give the consumer some perceived...

Waiting to get paid? Ready for your next session? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that there is an implicit license to perform cover songs, as long as credit is given to the composer and all applicable royalties are dealt with. I don't think the engineer has any more liability for get...
