Broken Beta 91

Anyone have any experience fixing one of these things? I think it's probably the cable (which I think has the capsule attached to the end of it) but the connection from cable to conector seems far too fiddly/hard to get at to solder. Any ideas?

The guy who owns the studio where I do a lot of my work has built one of these (I believe there is a second there now) and it sounds amazing. Seriously awesome. Makes me wish I had the faintest idea about electronics...

I love the KTGranulator: http://koen.smartelectronix.com/KTGranulator/ It's VST and AU, I think both mac and windows. It's based on the granulator that's part of audiomulch (an amazing piece of software that I wish was available on mac) and you can get some completely insane sounds with it, especial...

If you can run AU plugins, check out a little plugin called "Warp Drive" by Andrew Garber. It's my first port of call if I want to dirty something up a little, and it's free. I know this is a plugin and not a stompbox but I wanted to give this plug some publicity as I think it's great.

I don't think it's intentional - compare Closer to Unknown Pleasures, the singing is vastly improved, pitch-wise. I think he was still learning when he died; they weren't a band for very long.

1.- When making the final master ITB, allow the mix to have about 6dB of HEADROOM, for the mastering engineer. This means -6 dBFS on Peaks, and you average level wherever it falls. This one is totally golden. amen. OK, call me dumb, but I am trying to figure out how to accurately gauge this in Logi...

I've not owned or used a Peluso mic, but the owner of a studio I work at a lot has a couple of C12 clones he's built himself using P12 capsules and they sound amazing.

The Orange 1x15 is really nice. Weighty but not muddy.

Not DBX specific, but I just sent drawmer an email about getting a few replacement knobs for my DL241 and they were super helpful and willing to send out any amount from the factory.

So I'd say send them an email or ring up and see what you get.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure Metropolis would be out of budget, I think their typical album rate would be over twice out maximum. I've been lucky enough to get stuff mastered at Alchemy in the past (Ray Staff was my favourite but we used someone else as well, can't remember the name). I'm fairly sure it'...

Hard disk, so a foreign ME would be an option (my band mastered their album with Ed Brooks at RFI in Seattle and the results were great, so I would be tempted to go that route. I would probably rather attend the session though - there are a lot of segues, outros ect and the sequencing of the album w...

Favourite UK mastering engineers?

I wasn't sure exactly which section to post this in, so apologies if it's in the wrong place. In a couple of weeks I'll begin mixing on my biggest production project to date. It's my first full album as a producer and we want to get it mastered well. I know a few places but I'd like to garner the op...

Keep in mind that how much clicking is coming through has as most to do with the quality/shape of the instrument and how the player plays it. You might be automatically in better shape when the "ringer" comes in in a couple of weeks, just based on his superior technique. That's my hope; fingers cro...
