I have a pair of Studio Projects C4's and I'm extremely happy with them. I've used them as drum over heads and percussion overdubs, acoustic guitar, and even as a room mic with the omni capsule to record my band practice. The cardiod and omni capsules have a very different tone. The omni being a bit...

Ha! I just checked and the ebay auction is already at $660...so looks like he's getting more than expected. That is, if the bidder actually pays!

Well it seems he won't come down on the price so that pretty much seals the deal. No can do at $600. If it had the patchbay it might be worth it, but alas it is not worth if for me right now. So.....I've decided to buy RNC/RNLA racked combo and maybe a tube mic instead. Seems more useful than the bo...

ADK Area 51 TT vs. M-Audio Sputnik

I really want a mulit-pattern tube mic mainly for vocals and room micing and I have the option to pick up either one of these mics for around $500. I'm trying to decide what is the best choice. The Spunik has tons and tons of professenial and message board reviews and most are very positive saying t...

I have to agree...nothing special as a mic pre, but it is pretty solid as a bass di.

Anyone try swapping the tube in the TubeMP project series? I'm wondering if it'll help warm up the sound a bit. It works good as a di...but the preamp is a bit sterile at low volumes then noisly when the gain is anywhere past 13 dB.

Definately some great replies on this thread and special thanks to rpd158 for the detailed signal routing explanation. I used to work with alot of cassette recorders and I love the finesse that it takes to wrangle all them faders and knobs into a real stereo mix. Once I find a decent board I'll be a...

One thing to definitely check for: Some of the soundcraft boards were wired pin 3 hot. Which isn't a fatal flaw or anything... it just means you're going to have to make some new cables to interface the desk with other gear etc. Is there a way to tell via serial numbers or markings on the console? ...

Well he has everything hooked up in his garage with mics cables and head phones. I do have a korg d888 I could bring to record into so that might be a good idea. He seems really nice and wasn't trying to pressure me into buying it. I'm ok with a soldering iron and it's all modules so I could pull th...

Sound Craft Series 600....is it worth $600?

So I'm looking for an analog front end to my DAW and there's a craigslist add in my area for 16 channel 600 series w/o the patchbay. He's asking $600 and said everything works perfectly. He's going to let me test it when I go check it out tonight. It seems like a good deal, but I can't find much of ...

I'm guessing you're monitoring from the board to avoid hearing all that...but how can you be sure your incoming stereo tracks sound good in pro tools with out monitoring the signal? What you are doing at the board is what is going into protools. If going into protools changed the signal that much, ...

One (or two or three) quick questions... So you are playing the audio in protools and sending it out of the digi 002, then mixing it via the board and summing the audio to send back to the digi 002, right. Now in order to record the incoming signal wouldn't you have to mute it? Otherwise you'd hear ...

I just picked up a Universal Audio 701 Twin Finity Mic Pre. I got it for $100 off the normal price, and didn't have to pay tax. GTR center matched the price on Front End Audio. I'm really happy with it as a mic pre and an instrument DI. I've used some expenisve mic pre's before and even though this ...
