I'm pretty sure that as the source to gate voltage on an N-channel FET becomes more negative the channel resistance increases. N-channel FETs behave like vacuum tubes, n'est-ce pas?

Belden 8451 would work fine for what your trying to do. Multipair (snake) cabling usually ends up costing more per foot than the same hook up using single pair. You can always bundle the single pair stuff with tie wraps or sections of shrink wrap for neatness. multipair can be a little more trying t...

the ONLY difference between these tubes is that the suppressor grid in the 6205 is not internally tied to the cathode. They are otherwise identical.

Microphonic drive or recovery tubes can cause feed back. Bad power supply caps can cause feed back through the supply path as well.

Not trying to discourage you but you might be surprised at the cost of tools (particularly clamps) to build a guitar even from a kit. If you already have a well equipped wood shop this may not be an issue. If not, the tools may cost as much as the kit. If your B in L also works on cellos he may have...

just a thought... have you tried using one or more of the piano tracks (possibly EQed for max mud quality) phase flipped for highest cancellation and bouncing the result to another track, then using the new, less bloody vocal track for your mix?

The bridge rectifiers are a common failure point in those supplies. It is a pretty quick fix. That is probably what the $40.00 twenty minute fix mentioned above was. If you know how to check them, DIY. Otherwise take it to a tech. The parts are commonly available.

I had a bogen m60a in the early '70s that I used as a guitar amp. It had a switch on each channel near the input xfmrs to switch to high impedance (basically bypassing the xfmr). I just used a 1/4 to xlr adapter to plug my guitar in. I eventually wired all the preamps in cascade for that meatgrinder...

Attack and release times are set by resistance/capacitance (RC) networks. The time constant is the resistance times the capacitance. In the old tube compressors this is often a fixed value. By changing the capacitor in the network both the attack and release times will be changed. By changing the at...

Octal tubes often do not have all their pins in place. Rectifier tubes commonly only have 4 of the 8 pins because that is all that they use. Many octal power tubes (6L6, 6V6, etc.) only have six of the eight pins because that is all they use. I suppose it is just to save money in manufacturing. If i...

While Gibson seems to be acting like this is a totally new thing, I attended a NCAL (Northern California Association of Luthiers) meeting at Steve Klein's store in Sonoma probably 7 or 8 years ago where this system was demoed. It was somewhat more bizarre than Gibson's rig because it was in an acous...
