Dudes....check out Speakeasy Music
http://www.speakeasyvintagemusic.com
They have tons of Wurly, Hammond, Rhodes parts. I think their pedals are $200..... they work beautifully, inlike some of the used ones that are fucked...... they have so many parts though, it's worth checking out anyway.

Audio Note!!!! They deal in esoteric high end home audio stuff, but Peter Qvortrup (the owner) has been nothing but a gentleman and a great ally in my pursuits..... he makes brilliant equipment, and much of it I use in the studio. He's contemplating moving into the high end studio market...... he's ...

EQ it..... why not? With the exception of jazz records, or other soft, primarily acoustic records, I always grab an EQ on the snare. You may like the way it sounds in the room, but the reality is that the microphone (translate - NO MICROPHONE IN THE WORLD) hears it that way, especially when you're j...

1) People work with me because of how my records sound, but I'd say that they're mostly not aware of the tape thing till I mention it. I track almost everything to tape, and ALWAYS mix to tape. So indirectly, yes they come to me because I use tape. 2) ditto for all the above..... 3) Pretty scarce th...

IMO, don't even bother with other platforms. Digidesign sucks, yes. But, the reality is that probably 95% of the recorded output with any meaning is Pro Tools. A lot of people like to buck the trend, if you will, but there is a reason Pro Tools is so heavily used. it's ridiculously easy to learn.....

Yeah, they (Quantegy) dropped the ball with their last gasp...... oh well. Maybe we'll finally get a decent tape again via RMGI or ATR.... And GetReel, you're right dude.... I'm just griping cause of the Studer. If I didn't have the Studer, the JH24 would be my little princess! Love that piece of me...

Analogue Forum??
Maybe it's been brought up before, but I'd love to see a new ANALOGUE RECORDING forum here.... there was one once yeah? I think the thread we've got going in the Gear forum is good proof that there are still some rats in the oxide gutter...... maybe we should feed them.....

I'm not sure how to translate... and if you were being facetious, I'd hate to end up sounding like a dick.... But, I'll translate anyway..... CCIR or IEC is the European standard for analogue tape record/playback equalisation. NAB and IEC2 are the American standards for the same.... basically, in a ...

You're not kidding..... MCIs love to be used. We have a JH-24 with 16 trk heads that I use maybe once a year..... the Studer is the main horse, but I will say that the MCI still sounds great, and still pulls tape beautifully..... We had an issue for years where the MCI would blow transistors quite o...

Quantegy sucks, and always did....... the Ampex name went to utter shit when Quantegy took over. The very first QUANTEGY batch I used in '98 or so was totally fucked up, and three days of tracking were lost...... I made the switch to BASF 900 then and there, and never really looked back. For the las...

I have to be a hog and give three choices for me..... Oktava ML19. Older Soviet-era unidirectional ribbon mic.... looks like a Japanese lantern. Amazing on electric guitars, vocals, and a host of things..... the best, most used microphones I own. The other is a pair of hydrophones. Underwater mics t...
