Home Depot and Lowes both stock safe and sound. The 80 I used had to be delivered. I'm very pleased.

Check out the 8lb/sqft. pressed Roxol against pressed fiberglass absorption specs. Loose fiberglass isn't very effective. Look to roxul safe and sound for loose insulation. It's about the same as 703 pressed board, but in a 3 inch thickness.

+1 I'll agree with his description, the Peluso sounds better to me, and 'airy' is a better way to say it, I'm not much of a music word dancer. It probably wasn't clear, only the circuit parts were the same. The Peluso is 'smoother'. I used cinemag transformers with the rk12's and a Peluso transforme...

That could be the 251 circuit I used or the parts I chose. I didn't want to risk resoldering, and they are a pita to mount in the saddles. I have a Peluso 12 in a third. Same parts. They weren't in existence then.

I have both in mics. I like both, the rk12's are a bit brighter than the 47's. I'm using the 12's in a pair of 460 mods. There shouldn't be any voltage problem. If you did the mod, just check the voltage. I have the 47's in fet mics, they are nice, but my main mic is a Lt-381. It's great.

4 track restoration.

Hi, I have many 4 track x2 speed masters to dump to digital. Unfortunately, the Tascam 644 has lost the main logic, and I would like to do all 4 tracks direct from tape to output, which it wouldn't do. It looks like the 234 would do the job, but I don't know if it does x2 speed, and they are way ove...

If you haven't had your connectors covered when not connected, both male and female, try blowing them with dry, oil-less compressed air. Inspect the ball and cups for damages to the surface. Good light and optical assist.

Roxul is a mineral wool product that doesn't shed. You can find it at ATS. The 8lb boards are just a hair better than 705, and hardened Roxul, two inches thick. The Safe and Sound is 3 inches thick and flexible, equivalent to 703. You can find it at box store chains. The Prodex is sealed with tape. I...

Agreed. I emailed them about it. They recommend at least 1 inch air gap. On their install pages they show the product installed with some sag between supports. I have existing walls, with insulation, boards and wood siding. I was going to gap it with 1 1/4 inch resilient channel, and then install 8l...

Go to insulation 4 less and check out Prodex. 19db of sound transmission reduction in 13/64, and r16 insulation. They also have one with a wood looking finish, light or dark, with the same sound spec., and r10 value. It's going in my studio, when I get to that point, soon. Also absorption and diffus...

I can say that I started at a college (NPR) station, recording on 1/2 inch mono, which sounded pretty darned good through the gear they had (Neve board, on down). The rest of this is from the hip, not particularly sensitive, but I'm retired and just don't give a damn. Suck it up buttercup. I've used...
