playinbass wrote: Really?...just running the signal in "backwards" through a passive DI box will work (kinda) for re-amping? Yeah, you just run the balanced line level signal into the output of the DI box and connect to your amplifier [or re-amp speakers] from the unbalanced input jack of the DI bo...

I'm typing this as a bassist rehearses takes through my Presonus MP20. I love it, but I would love the Avalon even more.

iPod lets you load AIFF and WAV completely uncompressed. You simply drag that stuff into iTunes.

I was up late doing transfers from my friends' DPS16 into Digital Perfomer. Out of 30 songs, only 3 left to go. I also took some time to test my new Powerbook's simultaneous recording capabilities - 16 tracks no sweat. Nice.

I can sympathize with you. eBay freaks me out a bit. However, I have successfully bought TWO used Macs off of eBay in the past 18 months, the second one (1-yr old 15" powerbook 1.5 ghz, combo drive - $1250) last week . I saved a ton of money and the seller was local to me. We spent about an hour han...

Check in the manual. I am currently dumping 30 songs from an Akai DPS16 into Digital Performer 4.61 via Midi Time Code. Everything lines up perfectly and most of the songs are 12-16 tracks each. I'm dumping everything 2 tracks at a time. Both the G5 and the Akai are living in sync. You should be abl...

Curious as to how you are hooking this into a mic preamp. Once wired, are you able to treat the speaker as a regular dynamic mic and go XLR into any mic preamp? I ask because you mentioned hooking it up into a DI.

Thanks!

Hey, I'm looking for suggestions on inexpensive (sub $300) mics that have a figure 8 polar pattern. Check eBay for an AKG 414B/ULS. I bought mine one morning at 4am two summers ago for $405. Great mic. I know that it's a bit over your budget and you may not have time to watch a bunch of auctions, b...

These have received positive reviews all over the net: http://www.kelaudio.com/hm1.html I would also recommend the Oktava MK 012 mics. Great for guitars and overheads. Try to find the Russian MK ones. Also, decent sounding (so I have heard) ribbon mics: http://www.shinybox.com/ShinyBox23.php Keep in...
