Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Nice! High strung guitar is always a great instrument.to have in the studio. Mine ends up getting used on everything. Hearing it in the hands of a great finger picked is something else. If you want to double down on the chime-yness swap the low E 6th string for an unwould high E and tune it the sam...

Re: can anyone identify this amp?

Skipping to the next videos from the same guy, the same amp is shown (at different angles), maybe easier to identify from one of these.

Re: February RPM Challenge 2023

Not much output from me this year - leaning on my 'band' mates who each did 3 songs, I have one finished and a couple of 'ideas'. Writing lyrics and singing them are usually what slows me down.

iPad Tape Op app

I just installed this, it seems to work fine for my needs, I can browse current or back issues, zoom in/out and see an overview of each issue's content with thumbnails on the left side. Minor bug: clicking on a link from the table of contents will sometimes land on the right (odd-numbered) page, if ...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Some dude 5 minutes from my place had a Dano guitar in great shape for a good price. Pictured here with my defretted no-name Japanese bass, which is not new to me but recently put back into service. dano.jpg Great score! Got the nicer bridge too! I have a reissue U2, and replaced the wood-saddle on...

Re: February RPM Challenge 2023

I'm in, I guess this is year 16 for us (under the name "Texturions"). https://texturions.bandcamp.com/ http://texturions.com Usually 3 or 4 of us with 3 or 4 songs each, remote collaborations in some cases, up and down loads via Google Drive. For myself, it's a good excuse to dust off instruments or...

Re: Please recommend some small but mighty speakers

No MB for me. I mean, I can just imagine drinking too much at a jam and puking from looking at the Markbass rig; I did jam with a guy who had one a cuppla years ago - worse looking cab ever IMNSFHO, just because of that caution yellow. And it mighta just been him, but I found it loud and dynamic-le...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Amplitube 5 Max, on sale for $99, and down to about $70 with some kind of credits/points I had with IK.

Tons of presets, amp sims, effect sims, yadda yadda. And only took up 3 GB or so on my aging Macbook Pro with a smaller SSD.

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Guitar show scores - a Squier Strat with pearloid pickguard & trem cavity cover (and a suspicious lack of "made in ???" labeling), and a 20 button pearloid concertina from GERMANY EAST. The tuning on the latter is just about 50 cents off of "normal/A 440". Similar notes and sounds to diatonic harmon...

Re: Building a DIY plate

I wonder if a cymbal or a gong could be used, instead of a steel plate?

RIP Bass Player magazine

I guess I'll have a little less clutter in the house, but I don't see this as a positive development. Having it on paper, I feel the need to read or at least skim it all, maybe broadening my knowledge a little. If it's all links to articles, I'm probably only clicking on the ones I "know" or "like"....

Thing about those Boss COSM pedals, and I've heard they sound real good, is that they now cost even more than the Tech 21 AIAB pedals do.
I just noticed that on ebay, I had no idea they were getting "vintage" prices.

Re: AIAB pedals

This one makes some nice surf guitar sounds, I've never gigged it though.
Looks like it's been discontinued (got mine at some guitar show a while back).

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

A cheap (AD Musica) fretless 5 string J bass.
Action seems reasonable, I'll need to draw some lines on it that I can ignore while playing out of tune.
