Unfortunately, I've often found that the only way to achieve what is a rightful outcome is through determination and persistence that most people would find unseemly. This has held true for everything from ordering a part from Fender to getting my local county clerk to get my Social Security number ...

Being a little bit of a comedy nerd, my funny bone is always engaged. So were both 'letters' fake, or just what you supposedly wrote to them? Because I checked, and there is a real band by that name and they do strike me as ambitious enough to think the way that response letter reads. Also, neither ...

Respectfully, I think you guys misunderstood the situation. To the OP: No big deal if you're recording multiple tracks that are all safe as far as levels, but the output is peaking. Just bring the master fader down so it isn't peaking anymore. Or, if you want to monitor what's going on, you can do a...

I know it's not recommended, but in a severe pinch I've recorded something like 18-20 tracks simultaneously direct to the internal drive of my MacBook Pro. (Doh! I forgot the external drive! What am I going to do?) Anyway, I'm sure you could get somewhere in that neighborhood, then transfer all the ...

You could always go for the Jim Scott statement: "It's not gonna affect record sales." Or will it? This segues nicely into what crossed my mind when I read your original post: How 'mainstream' does this band want to sound? Yes, tuned vocals are pretty ubiquitous nowadays, and I would suspect that s...

Ha! Amazing! One correction, though.... It's Oklahoma University. Oklahoma State is mostly just livestock. But, besides the cheerleaders, they've apparently got a pretty good Veterinary School. All the more fitting, considering the Toro Fecundian* odor emanating from this thread. * With thanks to t...

You guys are on the same page. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully someone from Waves will chime in and actually pay attention to this discussion. A 10:1 bulk discount for buying a bundle (Why not steal it? Everyone else does?), is giving away the farm, but it pushes people toward stealing because bundle...

[T]here's something to be said for doing the best we can. There's also something to be said for not giving a shit. Frankly, I think this is the takeaway of this thread. At least it is to me. Kind of like a Nyquist filter for your own brain. Care just enough to get things as good as they should be. ...

To the OP: You're already into this setup to the tune of about $3,600 by the time you account for cables and stands. And you're "sort of interning at a studio," which I imagine means that you're spending a good bit of time there but not getting paid. Take that $1,000 and pay down your debt. None of ...
