Get everyone to tune to 435. unless (as mentioned before) your not going to tune vocals have keyboards etc (although alot of keyboards and tunes will change aswell.)

listening to alot of jamiroquai and stuff and they are in slightly different tunings.
Slightly annoying but also kinda cool.

I would go for the amps. will probably be a much better vibe for the band recordind. if you can take a DI signal aswell for reamping late that would be bonus (you could do more in terms of doubling, changing tones and layering them etc). But it kinda sounds like itll be one or the other. I've heard ...

Bring the vocals up a little, and use a compressor to tame the early reverb reflections. It sounds like there are two singers plus some doubling/delay? three vocals actually. and I recorded all parts twice and pan them hard right and left, rather than a delay or something. that part as well as the ...

Thats true.
I think its somewhat a stylistic thing, but many to much reverb/stereo vocals.
it seems like the whole mix has no depth, and the low end is some what distorted. and could be more tight and solid.

For those having trouble with mixing...

Apparently its as easy as not even listening to the song. just put in some numbers and your set. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6saNLT9Ew08 Sorry if this is in the wrong spot. I just got waves and was trying to find how different people utilised the plugins and found a whole bunch of videos like thi...

Cymbals do not compress themselves. They might oscillate in a weird way, but that is not compression Perhaps he meant that they were played hard enough so the transients were as loud as the attack. Creating the desired effect of a comp. But yes it's still not compression. I'm not sure how much they...

so I guess we're defining a "real musician" as someone who can spend $500 on a role of tape for a session.....cool. It seems like a bit of a boasting thing posting all this stuff on here and to be honest I'd be more impressed if you did a whole session just in PT. (dont get me wrong I'm still impres...

Also of utmost importance is the use of two or more mics, we need two mics to sound natural to us, as we in nature have two hearing devices that work subliminally together all of the time. Nature is right, we cannot undo millions of years of this behaviour in such a short space of time Considering ...

I think I just want contrast, loud masters fine, but if its all loud, its just dull and lifeless to me. What would be the point of making a "standard". If theres a standard there will be no contrast between songs. Plus I never hear anyone complaining about the mastering of the music they like. I he...
