I have a Indian music disc whose channels are perfectly out of phase. It sounds like one of those "wide" buttons on boom boxes from the 80s!

Unlistenable!

Maybe you can start the revolution by not recording drums that way. you make a good case. You want details? All right. Pre-Zep: drums sounded like drums, and were mixed together with the other instruments. Post-Zep: everyone gets a hard-on over "how huge the drums sound, dude". And if you lik...

The title came from Clapton. He was watching George writing the lyrics from across the table and read "Bridge" wrong (reading upside down) and asked George "What is that... Badge?".
dwlb wrote:a) George may have played the riff, but Ringo named the song. Winner, Ringo.

It works as advertised and I love it. I got it to deal with recording myself. If I was recording an acoustic part, for instance, I would have to continually work the mouse. Now I put the Tranzport on a music stand next to me and everything is easy. FYI, it uses a USB port for the wireless receiver. ...

"The Making Of All Things Music Pass" That's one of my favorite albums of all time- and I love Spector- but I'd sure like to hear what was going on underneath the wall. I'm relatively up on my Fabs boots, but I don't recall ever hearing of the rough mixes. Any idea what that one's called or anything?

Re: Eric Crapton

I agree completely. I have to give him credit for the Beano/Mayall album, While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Cream, though. Since Cream he's dedicated himself to representing boringville 100%! I was watching this clown the other night on a show about Robert Johnson (whom I like) on PBS. This guy has t...

I want to re-wire my whole studio!

I have a pro tools based studio that has a load of outboard gear. Everything is now hooked up to two 1/4" patchbays, one balanced, one unbalanced. The back of the gear racks looks like an explosion at a cable factory... everytime I go back there to straighten it out I get scared and get the hell out...

Yeah, I have those raw mixes and I agree 100%. I never understood the praise for Spector's wall of smear, wall of blur, wall of shit... whatever you want to call it. All Things Must Pass is a great album DESPITE the production. Even George was compelled to remix some of the songs to try to eliminate...

Aphex Aural Exciters! joel hamilton wrote: "I can hear the sound of people trying to hold on to outdated techniques as a front for lack of fundamental recording skills." This is from the auto-tune thread. Can we discuss this? In particular, the outdated techniques that Joel is refering too and the u...

This reaction is ridiculous. Pretentious bullshit? No-one is trying to make you feel inferior. He is saying that he studied music from the academic perspective and he gets attacked? That academic perspective allows you to check out music in a different way. You can analyze things in a clinical way w...

As much as I disagree with this assessment of McCartney's entire output (To dismiss everything he's done is just hating) I have to say that his opinion is exactly how I feel about his latest album. Boring, weak, hokey without offering anything interesting. BYW, I am a huge fan of his music. Bullshit...
