otari mx5050 track 8 not recording

i have one of the mx5050s in two pieces.. one for modules, one for the transport. it sounds great and works like a charm but track 8 isn't recording properly. it sounds like a very tiny amount is getting to the track but not erasing or recording anywhere near a nominal level. the input level is fine...

cl-100

i have the exact compressor and in all honesty, i love the thing. it's kind of funky but it does what it does quite nicely. mine is also the toggle switch one. good shit!

anyway.. if i have a chance this weekend, ill pop it open!

ADL

i've used an actual 670 and the ADL 670. both for only about a day. i really got to dig into the ADL and it just sounded amazing. i monitored through it all day. i remember having fun popping it in and out of the mix. i always just wanted it back in. it definitely added a lot without sounding like i...

replacing op-amps?

i have a tac scorpion. it's had some of its op-amps replaced- looks like in the master section only, based on the scribbled schematics. i was wondering if anyone had an opinion on replacing the op-amps in the pre amps. specifically, my questions are: 1 would it be worth it? 2 would i need to further...

lost on ways to elevate my console..

i have a 16 ch. tac scorpion. it's not huge but it's heavy. i assume your average hard plastic table probably won't hold the weight of this board. i was thinking about getting some extra thick plywood and some 4x4s to use as legs. i have one thigh-high rack that's pretty sturdy. i was thinking about...

Question about wiring up a patchbay.

i am starting to wire up my new space and have a patchbay that requires soldering. all of the cabling is there, i'm just switching 8 bal. 1/4" to 8 XLRs. i've never dealt with one of these before. i clipped the 1/4" jacks off and soldered on the XLRs like so: ground to pin 1 and jumped to pin 2. hot...

57

i used the modded 57 in the following situation: ampeg b-25 with a green day pbass model. into a marshall 4x12, mic'd with the 57 modded, into a neve 1064, into a dbx 160SL. total success. aftr we tracked that, we mixed the song. the bass fit in absolutely beautifully! i'm totally using this modded ...
