Re: Are you selling off your adats?

Well, I had 3 lx20's and a BRC. I realized about 2 years ago that they were just sitting in the rack looking pretty. I sold them. Totaly took it in the butt, BUT, I'm glad I got out when I did. They are so damn cheap now that I would have been really screwwed trying to sell them now.. The moral of t...

Re: Panasonic/Ramsa DA7

We have one at the studio and are planning on replacing it soon. I've used it a fair amount and thought it was decent. I usualy use outboard pre's on the important stuff, but I've used the DA7 for toms, hi hat ect.... Never thought it sounded bad. Mainly we need more than 16 xlr inputs with phantom ...

Re: Need advice on a good pair of pres to follow my Folcrom.

I've used my API's racked by Brent Averill for summing and thought they sounded great! I did notice a difference. More open Top, tighter bass ect..ect.. They might put you a bit over your spending limit, but I've never been disapointed with a purchase that I felt was worth the stretch. just my 2 cen...

Re: Telefunken Mic Pre's

We bought a pair and racked them. They sound great. Nope, no tube in em though. They do compress nicely and I've often enjoyed them on overhead drum duties. They kind of fall between an api and a neve in my mind. Not the low end extension of a neve and not as "hard" sounding as a api , but a nice sm...

FS: Otari MTR90 MkII 8 track 1" Analog Tape Machine

Hi all. I've got an Otari MTR90mkII 8 track 1" machine for sale. The machine is in good condition and working fine. No problems at all since I've owned it ( about 5 years now). Used lightly in a smoke free studio. * extras * comes with MRL "short" allignment tape, remote control (no autolocater) , t...

Re: anyone heard of DRT Mastering?

I hope I didn't seem negative about my experience w/ DRT. I didn't figure I was getting the "full deal" mastering job. It just didn't work for what I was wanting. This was also 3-4 years ago, so I'm sure they've gotten even better (I know my mixes have :)
Anyhow, good luck with everything!

Re: anyone heard of DRT Mastering?

yup. I sent them a Song to "test master". It took a while to get back ( not that I could complain) , but it sounded OK. It didn't give it a "major label bla, bla, bla sound " ,but it didn't sound bad. While the song was gone I tried to master it myself and ended up liking my version better, BUT that d...

Re: which mic pres does everyone use with their ribbon mics?

Royer R121 with API 312 or Neve 1272 seems fine except on super quiet finger picked classical style guitar.

For all other rock aplications they work great!

Re: thinking of getting a Digidesign control 24.. Thoughts?

The one I've used a few times had BAD issues with the monitor volume pot. Real jerky (ie: not smooth) volume changes. This was out of the box jacked. It was big time anoying. I seem to remember others talking about this too awhile back. Anyhow, not impressed with it at all. I'm sure others might love...
