Re: FEEDBACK ON SOLID STATE MIC PRE'S FOR KICK / SNARE
API= Rock n' Roll !
You will not regret buying the biggest rack you can get. The pre's are awsome on anything and the EQ's (especialy on drums) just KILL!
Just spend the money...... You'll never look back.

Anyone here ever record with Steve Albini?
Hi there,
A band that I've recorded in the past is making a trip to Electrical Audio to record and I'm coming along for the experience.
Anyone ever work with Steve? How is he to record with? Seems like a nice guy..
Not looking for a flame war, just a character reference

Re: Charging deposits?
50% at time of booking to ensure the session will happen. If that's five minutes before the session or three months before, that's cool, but I need it to work. It tells me you'll be there and it tells you I won't book anything else. A "deposit" is generally non-refundable, but time can be reschedul...

You couldn't go wrong with a pair of Neve 1272's. Thick,rich tone that will fatten up just about anything (including a thin voice ). :) I've got a lot of different pre's , but I could be happy just using the 1272's all day long. plus, they get "that" rock sound..... Look here. These folks are WAY co...

Re: Most Precious Non-Gear Items in Your Studio Right Now
I've got a plaque that a band gave me a few years ago at the wrap of they're album. It's got a shellac'd pigs ear with a big gold earing pearced through it. They covered it all in gold sparkle and at the bottom it says " El Oreja De Oro" (the golden ear).. It's got to be the coolest thing any band h...

Re: bands that show up late or completley stand you up
We get 1/2 the money for each day booked as a deposit atleast 1 week before the session starts. I used to think that was kinda hard assed, BUT in the year I've been at this studio I haven't had one no show. Also, Our clock starts at the time we agreed on meeting. I usualy get to the studio atleast 1...

Re: Subtractive EQ question??
I'll take a stab at this one.... the "sweeping through the freq. range" comment usualy means that if your using a parametric eq (ie: an eq that you can select the spacific frequency you would like to boost/cut). Boost your EQ (turn your monitors down before doing this) and while you've listining, sw...

As usual beware of scams ,BUT I just bought an lunchbox w/ a 550,553, and BA312 pre for $1800 so there are deals out there...
