- Topic: sennheiser e906 on bass cabinets and unusual sounds?

A word for the e906- I use it on bass when I want a little more definition in the midrange than I get from a 421. The e906 doesn't skimp on low end, and it has the switchable eq curve that makes it really versatile. It's a good all-around mic to have. It's worth a try. If it doesn't work for that si...

thinking about switching platforms
With the exception of a Commodore Vic 20, every computer I have owned has been a Macintosh. I use Macs at work and think of them as incredibly useful and Fisher-Price-simple to use. I recently bought a Laptop with Vista on it because I couldn't afford to replace my iBook. I was shocked and awed at h...

Yeah, I mis-spoke there. I agree it's been a constant struggle, and Clinton was by no means the start of it. It's just that the acceleration of this three-tiered system has really increased since the introduction of charter schools, TIFF districts, and a host of measures that have been used since th...

Who here thinks the public education system has improved year after year for the past two or three decades? Who thinks it will get better when the crop of underachievers who graduated from high school in 2004, graduate from college next month and start teaching high school in the fall? When it's lo...

... and to chime in on what djembe was saying, at least in the corporate world, HR departments usually post requirements beyond what they will accept hoping to get more than they can pay for. Job consultants always say send a resume even if you don't fill all the "requirements." Generally anyone who...

I have two things to add (garnered from experience): #1 If you can, get a humidifier that can sense the humidity. I ran one constantly and then I started to notice the doors in the house were starting to crack and the trim was lifting off the wall. There is such a thing as too dry. #2 painting the f...

I don't have a horse in this race, but this appears really fishy to me. A computer doesn't care what kind of data it is; data is data to a computer. Ones and zeros. How does a processor deem certain data "non-essential"? Wouldn't that require more processing to determine, which would then tie up mo...

That's a novel concept :-) Can you support it? Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I didn't see your post. Here is a very basic page that describes how DSPs work. http://www.dsptutor.freeuk.com/intro.htm If you do a search for "DSP processing" you should find plenty of technical papers outlining...

I've been trying out Reaper for the last couple of days and it's great. I usually use Digital Performer on a Mac, and I'm still amazed at how simple Reaper is. It does everything that I need DP to do and in a quicker, more intuitive way. If Reaper came out for the Mac, I'd be tempted to ditch DP. I'...

I've never actually owned a Mackie, though, so I can't compare. I have two Mackie 1202s and went from them to my WR-8428. I only use the Mackies for location or PA duties now. I would never characterize my WR-8428 as dull sounding. In contrast to the Mackies it does have a much smoother high end, b...

Pushing hardware with software is real lame. It's why I don't bother with digidesign products. In this day where I can have a 3 GHz quad core for under 1K, why do I have to mess with PCI cards for DSP power? :( Well, for one, it sounds better. And two, having DSP available with something like an HD...
