On the the Books

I recently just caught up on paying my taxes for the last 7 years. I have been 1099 for at least 6. It was a big relief to get that out of the way. I thought I would owe a bunch but my CPA worked it all out. Get a good CPA that does a lot of Self Employed people. Paying my CPA is about the best $250...

bannerj wrote [quote="bannerj" I could say...well, my mixes sound thin and puny and pinched...but [/quote] Try and stay away from too much EQ and Compression. Try and spend more of your time with panning and fader balancing. Also start to record the levels of things with the faders at 0 (Unity) in E...

I usually will charge for the travel expenses such as air fair, gas, rental car,per diem, if those things are not already worked into a package rate. Of course these things are stated in writing just so that everyone knows the deal.

100% agreed. I prefer the sound that I can get with analog processing.

Live vocal EFX

I'm the drummer in my band and also the one who records and co-produces our recordings. I have been using the Main Stage program that comes bundled with Logic Pro 8 for the last 2 years with great results. Here is my setup and how we pull it off. I have had very few live sound guys complain about th...

I DO THIS !!

I use my Mac Book Pro with a Metric Halo 2882 and Logic Pro 8 as an effect unit all of the time. I'll set the buffer settings as low as they go, I can hear a little latency but it does not seem to bother me as most of the things I'm doing with it involve Verb. I have designed some really cool convol...

Thanks. It was a lot of fun. We rented a big 5,000 foot warehouse space in downtown Detroit and set up a make shift studio for 6 weeks and recorded the whole thing. All of the effects and reverb on things are either room reverb and or re-amping things back into different sized rooms, I mean ALL. -co...

Mixing

I don"t EQ or Compress something soloed up, but rather in the mix. I find that this makes me focus on the sound of the song as a whole, and how what I may be Eq'ing and or compressing is fitting in. I also will get my balance of everything and then set my monitor level to around 80db with an SPL mete...
