Re: Monitors for about $300?
easy... Wharfedale Diamond 8.2 @ AMS for $340 shipped. definately worth checking out. everything else i've tried out in this price range sounded like mud soup. i was going to get the Event TR8s but they weren't dramatically better for the extra $200. Don't waste your money, know what your studio is ...

Re: Edwards in 2008
Yup. In 2008 they'll trot out Rudy or John Mccain and coast to an easy victory. the country is sliding in that direction. i don't see a Dem or anyone else taking the presidency or control of congress for yeeeeaars. total bummer.

Re: Evidence of Hobbits?
this is all quite perplexing. the science makes sense but it doesn't all add up with Peter Jackson. He made a movie about hobbits(who were small on the mainland) and is now working on King Kong(a big ape on a small island). It''s all ass backwards! Clearly tolkien and whomever wrote Kong (and the ed...

Bad Cat amps, speaker mods
everyone knows these amps rule like no other but i've been wonderring about their "specially modified" Celestion vintage 30s they use. i want to retrofit an old cab i have with some vintage 30s and thought i might be able to mod them the same way. any techies out there know what they do? I might jus...

Re: os X, on your PC
as a self described "geek" who regularly watches "the screen savers" on TechTV, they did manage to get this up and running, but the mac os seems to be so hardware specific that it runs incredibly slooooooooooow. someday... someday...

that crazy fender vibrato, in a pedal???
i've been on the hunt for a Fender and was leaning towards a Vibrolux or possibly a 65 Super Reverb until i fell in love with the 59 Bassman 4x10 combo reissue. This thing is totally 'no frills' and i was looking forward to some of that awesome fender vibrato. I'm not a gear freak when it comes to g...

Re: Looking to check out monitors in the Chicagoland area
The store I work at is only 8 hours away. We have the Alesis and Tapco and Mackie HR624 and Rolands and all types of nice stuff. If you're that desperate, come visit us. There's one in Omaha too, that's only 7 hours. I'm on my way! A chance to stretch the legs of my Hyundai and meet some other Tape...

Re: Looking to check out monitors in the Chicagoland area
ok guys, i'll put the Events on my list of shit to check out, but i'm not holding my breath. i think after hearing and using higher end stuff there's no going back. the mid level stuff is around 500 a pair but i might as well buy someting smaller of the 250-300 variety. since i'll be "settling" i mi...

Looking to check out monitors in the Chicagoland area
I'm in the hunt for some monitors for home use and based on recomendations from this board I want to do some side by side comparisons. I had it narrowed down to the Tapco, M-Audio and Alesis powered 8" models. I have been able to check out the M-Audio and Alesis models alongside the HR824's(which i'...

Re: Barack Obama
The national GOP was really serious about getting Mike Ditka to be the replacement Republican Senate candidate, but even Ditka said no. i don't know how this slipped through the cracks, but i was watching "Chicago Tonight" the day Ditka passed on the nomination, and some head honcho guy from the Il...

Re: Barack Obama
well, Jack Ryan is still the nominee and it's out there that he's lobbying hard to stay. No one else wants his spot so we still might get to see Obama dance circles around him. side note: he does SOUND like a President. He gave the Democratic rebuttle to the Prez's weekly radio adress a month or so ...

Re: Good Marshall Recorded Sound
Try A diferent Cab! I hate the sounds of Fender speakers (post 70s that is). Try using a cab with Greenbacks or Vintage 30s. this is the real key as far as your setup goes. dialing down distortion is also right on. I've had a JCM head and a Marshall 4x12 for years and if you've got that combo it's ...
