DVD Audio to WAV

OK, What I want: -Software which extracts audio from DVD, converts and saves it to .WAV ...and is free. I've been digging around at TOMB, videohelp.com, the interwebs, etc. with no clear-cut solutions. Will I need to dish the $25-$40 that most programs that do this seem to cost? Thoughts? Thanks- Je...

I'm not experiencing dropouts, I'm just trying to learn more to prevent them. Basically, I'm wondering if using tapes over and over (with or without reformatting) will cause an increase in the incidence of dropouts.

Thanks, all!

Hi8 Dropouts?

Hello! -Have you had Hi8 tape dropouts with your DMM? (mine is a Tascam DA38) -Are tapes that have been recorded over or reformatted more likely to dropout than first-use tapes? -Generally speaking, are the media (i.e. tapes) or the machine more likely the reason for dropouts occuring? I haven't had...

Big fan of the Hamptone. Great project, very rewarding results and sounds great (I think). Check out: http://www.recordingjones.com/Audio%20Demo/Conley_Wouters_Clip.mp3 All live - drums done with Hamptone HVTP2 (tube pre) and I think MXL 603s. http://www.recordingjones.com/Audio%20Demo/Josh_McCormic...

UPDATE: "Recording Jones" is official! The name of our location recording service ( www.recordingjones.com ) came randomly during a not-so-serious brainstorm. BUT, it probably does have to do with the prevailing feeling we have; We just want record anything, anytime, anywhere. We're jonesin' to reco...

Securing a power extension cord?

Hey all, Any cool ideas on how to secure a power extension cord to the wall outlet to prevent inadvertent unplugging? I do a lot of location recording recitals and other performances. I dread the situation where my power extension cord gets tugged and pulled out of the outlet while recording. Of cou...

I'm curious what other feedback people might have. Do you like this recording? What would you have done differently? Do you like it as dry as it is? etc.

Thanks!

Here's how it was done: MXL 2001's in ORTF config. directly above drums, no close mic'ing, except on bass drum, which was a Heil PR40. MXL 2001 and 604 on vox We pretty much used the Cubase multiband compressor on EVERYTHING. In the master section, used the multiband comp., then the W1 (http://yohng...

Hi All, I'm in charge of buying 3 live vocal mics for a local church. Budget=~$500. Replacing *PEAVEY!* :^( mics, so ANYTHING, including nothing, or two cups and a string is better than what is presently used. BUT, I'd like to get rugged, excellent-sounding, general-purpose (i.e. male, female vox, o...

computer in another room?

Hi all, What options are there for controlling the PC remotely *(wired)* in another room(30-50ft), to reduce noise while monitoring? I'm assuming that like most cables/application combinations, there are length limits for monitor, mouse and keyboard cables. Are there ethernet-based (or similar) devi...

How did you name your studio/recording business?

Hi all,

'We' (for lack of an actual name) are trying to decide on a name for our location recording service. As of now, we've just done word-of-mouth among those we know, but now we're working on flyers, a website, etc. Just curious how others arrived at their business's name.

I really enjoy your music! Keep it up. This may not be confluent with your vision, but what about trying some harder panning with individual instruments? e.g. Drums, organ right, guitar, bass left, etc. (or whatever combination you think works...). Kind of a Beatles thing - Just an idea. Also, on Iv...
