Re: Akai S1000
so, a friend of mine is getting rid of his akai s1000 sampler. is there a way to back up the samples to cd, or a hard drive (using mac compatible programs)? thanks, d only if you have an older Mac with SCSI - or hook another SCSI drive up to it and copy teh drive. older versions of Toast would let ...

Re: PM1000s - all the same?
the basic circuit is the same, but the early ones had different input transformers. otherwise pretty much identical. they are all good. heh. i never knew that! did they give it the same part # or different? --BH i really don't know.... most of the ones you see will have the silver cylindrical input...

beefing up that little ass power supply would probably do wonders for anything over 16 channels..... they work fine for the little 8 channel 200/200B's but you start adding a bunch of inputs and running it hard, and the audio will start going south pretty quickly..... not much leeway in the PS means...

Tonepad has a great photo essay of how to use Press N Peel Blue. You print out the design with your lazer printer or photocopier, and then a little photo processing on some copper blanks, and some sweet chemicals and you've got your board. Check it: http://tonepad.com/photoessays.asp i've used PNP ...

Re: PM1000s - all the same?
I've got a couple of channel strips from a Yamaha PM-1000 laying around. I keep hearing they're not too bad as pre's if you rack them up, (perhaps with a few mods?), and thought it'd be a easyish project. But are all PM1000 strips the same? Are they all discrete? Or did Yamaha pull one of those "it...

the Beta 52 is verrrry common these days in live sound reinforcement - it seems to be universally placed an inch or two just inside the port of the front head aimed towards the beater, which should give you the requisite balance of low end sub/lo mid cut/beater attack. if it's placed corrrectly you ...

result! nclayton, your method has totally saved me from all my previous bullshit experiments. 5 minutes outside, not in direct light and the right amount of developer (i have since found it's better to have a bit too little developer than too much...) has made two nearly perfect PCB's, the first one...

Re: the zeppelin joke
I mean "Whole lotta Love" is a good song, it's about a big dick, but it's awesome... that is to say AND it's awesome. I mean, shit! I wish I had the balls to write a song about that. LZ pretty much ripped off the lyrics from a Willie Dixon tune (" You Need Love "). Plagiarism is the real heart of r...

Anyone? The parts should be here today, and I'm just going to go crazy soldering shit on there. I would guess than pin 4 is removed on all the opamps and that the 2252s stay. Neil you could just bend pin 4 out sideways and not remove it until you confirm that it is indeed working correctly..... if ...

sure looks like a 3 input, 1 out passive mixer, but on closer look i see there's a battery clip in there too so there's probably some very simple transistor boost circuit - looks like some sort of epoxy potted module in the corner of the box. maybe the module is to buffer the ins & outs and coincide...

Thank you very much for the link! This will help a great deal. I pulled one of the modules out and confirmed it is a series I. It is not the Ie. It has for eq High Pass, Low Pass, Mid, and Low Mid. Only one eq being semi parametric. But the eq sounds very nice regardless. It will take awhile to get...

I did a project using perfboard once, and it was a total effing nightmare. I did get it to work, but cutting handmade leads to length, bending, routing and getting everything to hold in place when you try to solder it apparently requires a level of skill I don't have. I haven't used PnP yet, but I ...
